Affordable luxury hotel
Reviewed 3 days ago

Connected to the Mongkok East station and Moko shopping mall, this hotel location is convenient despite of some walk to the heart of Mongkok center.

The room looks luxury but definitely needs to be touched up after years of operations as the table and luggage surface is wearing off now. The hotel pool is nice but overly crowded with many kids probably due to holidays.

What I like about this hotel is the green program that they will rebate HK$50 on daily basis if you don't need daily housekeeping service. Indeed it is a smart action to cut down cost while to motivate guests to dine in the hotel restaurants.

Great Hotel - Not So Great Location for Some

If you need comfortable and spacious space in Hong Kong, you can consider Royal Plaza Hotel. While located in Mongkok (one of old areas in Hong Kong). I find the hotel is better than most hotels in TST area. The hotel facade seems old, but the interior is quite modern and most importantly, well cleaned and maintained.

The bathroom is clean and the amenities met my expectations.

The hotel has won award as family friendly hotel because they have rooms which provide two double beds. While we travel in 6, we can just have 2 rooms. It is not connecting but adjacent and that is OK for me.

The Hotel is part of MOKO mall, but we have little chance to explore there. However, you can find most of your basic needs in the mall which make this hotel a plus.

If you travel lightly and rely on MTR for your trip, you might find the location slightly inconvenient. The nearest and convenient MTR station is Mong Kok East. But it is part of East Railway Line, which is not the main MTR line. You might need two or more transfer to reach your destination in the city.

Other alternative is by get off in Prince Edward or Mong Kok Station, the MTR Red (i.e. main) line. However it is 10 minutes walk to the hotel. While via Mong Kok is slightly longer trip, but it is more convenient than Prince Edward.

If you come from mainland China, this is a convenient hotel, however if you come from HKIA, I recommend you to have use Airport Express train to Kowloon, then take K5 free shuttle. It is an old mini bus though. But it's better than nothing.

Poor customer service

Great hotel beside a mall and mtr. However the customer service is terrible. It took us more than 40 minutes to check in. Weeks before checking in we requested connecting rooms and rooms beside each other as we booked 4 rooms. They confirmed but after checking in we were not given connecting rooms nor rooms beside each other. We availed of their breakfast promo however they charged us for an extra child. They had to investigate overnight. The next day when we checked out, the did not charge the extra child. They could have done that immediately that night when we asked to settle the bill ahead. We wanted to pay at the restaurant but the restaurant insisted to charge to the room so beware!

We requested to change rooms because our room only had a bath tub that is so high that seniors would have a hard time. We requested a room with shower. The front desk said he will call me back because they have a problem with their system. It took a while and I had to call the duty manager to follow up. The front desk called again and transferred us to a room with shower. Bellboys were helpful.

We booked 4 family rooms, rooms were big for hong kong size. 2 queen beds. They offer free 4 bottles of water a day. Room had slippers and bathroom essentials.

A great hotel with great location, it is attached to MOKO Mall with mtr access on the 1st floor.

It would be great if you would improve your front desk and your customer service.

Five nights in Hong Kong

Lovely room on the 16th floor with city views. Plenty of cupboard space, comfy bed, beautiful pool and spa area on the 8th floor, coffee and tea making facilities, friendly and helpful staff but communication a little difficult at times. Nice hotel bar. Massive shopping centre attached to this hotel, very easy to get lost in it! but great food court with lots of options. Didn't use the hotel restaurant, but it looked very popular. Walking distance to Mong Kok East train station and Prince Edward Station not far away (different lines). Hotel has its own shuttle service to Kowloon which we used regularly - very helpful. A little distance from Hong Kong and Kowloon, but Mong Kok is a destination itself with lots of markets and great shopping.

Third time's not the charm
Reviewed 1 week ago

Been staying at this hotel with my family for our past 3 trips to Hong Kong. Enjoyed the stay the last two times. The most recent stay wasn't as good. Check-in queue was slow and we waited about 20 mins before we were served. Then, the receptionist needed the passports of ALL the occupants, unlike other hotels. Room was smaller than we remembered and on a low floor. The bathtub's stopper was not quite working and the kids needed our help to drain the water. Our room was not cleaned the second day and the complementary coffee and tea corner not replenished. Overall, we didn't enjoy our stay as much as the 1st two times.
