Luxury in a Wonderful Location

As you enter the lobby the scent of the orient greets you and then there is the opulently appointed, grand view with fountains and all. Service from the many staff in attendance is excellent and if you upgrade to a harbour view the prospect must be one of the best with a spectacular view of Hong Kong island itself and its fabulous sky line.

This hotel has a great location and harbour views. It offers the best value for money in terms of peak season for accommodation in a HK hotel. The service is decent and staff is attentive & friendly. The hotel, however, is nothing special, certainly not near the standard of some other ShangriLa Hotels. Rooms are dated. I have never stayed in a luxury hotel where this was so bad. Given the choice I would love to try a different hotel in HK like Hotel ICON/the Langham before coming back to ShangriLa

As with most Shang hotels, you know what you’d be getting. Dated outlook, common areas and room fittings more than offset by good location and comfort.

What I like about this Shang is the complimentary mobile phone, which allowed me to create an internet hotspot wherever I was. Very thoughtful and lifts my score from a 3 otherwise. What I didn’t like is the recalcitrant room key card (and I’m not alone, hearing similar complains by other guests at the reception counter). Breakfast buffet had a wide spread but was resolutely average except for the mango ice cream. As for service, you can still detect the infamous Hong Kong people’s disdain for politeness and patience despite some attempts to hide them.

I have stayed in many Shangri-La’s in China and HKG for last 8 years and this 11th stay at Kowloon Shangri-La for 3 nights including weekend was super special and excellent by nice staff there, during my travel from US.
The amenities are excellent and the location is central, however what really makes it outstanding is the outstanding staff. I felt like I was at home away from home. Memorable stay in the hotel as part of my family tour to China and Hong Kong, great hotel with nice design and with excellent Seaview and the warm welcome and excellent service, attentive and nice food and amazing hospitality.

Special mention to the below outstanding staff for their warm hospitality, who made us feel so good.

I would like to Thank so much Mei Tao, Service Manager - Secretary to General Manager she was very much caring of me and family with her excellent support, this stay was a memorable one. She was keeping me engaged in arranging all the things one month before i started trip planning to Kowloon Shangri-La. we felt her a family member and she deserve so much attention and appreciation. Please pass on my kind regards to her and also to the GM (i will drop a mail as well) Appreciate her kindness and she also informed Cafe Kool and got good hospitality with her kind support i was able to stay there 11th time and more to come.

Café Kool Indian chef Anthony Renny treated us very well and he is extremely professional and very helpful. He customized some Asian dishes for us and so good. Crab chilli. He deserves so much encouragement..

Linda Lum (Service Manager) was so kind and I was meeting her for 3rd time and gave warm welcome and took care of us.

Lesley Chan- he was so helpful and offered chocolate treats to my kids. And Jerry Ho, Ivan Lee, Service managers in Cafe Kool was much caring of us and special, Ivan and Jerry, great hospitalities in Café during breakfast, dinner and lunch buffer, Anoy Ho server in cafe kool deserve special attention and encouragement.

it is all the staff like this who inspire us to come again and again Mei Tao, you made our stay so much memorable!!!! you deserve special attention and appreciation, will be back soon there this year!!
