How to Get There
Fantastic hotel. Management are excellent because everything, and I mean everything, works beautifully. Every detail is in check. Everyone working at the hotel, at all levels, are superb.
A true 5 star stay. They even surprised us for our 9 year old's birthday with a cake, balloon, cards, photos and lots of attention.

The hotel has an older and more traditional feel to it. Service is fantastic throughout. The pool and gym are great-really liked the feel of the outdoor pool backing up to the mountain side. Nice restaurant options from casual to expensive French on top floor with great views.
The big negative for me was the disappointing room. It is clearly old and in need of renovation. It smelled very musty and made my allergies act up. There were also many stains on the carpet, and skirt, furniture and even on the walls??!
I asked for an upgrade to club level but was told it would be an extra 800hkd per night which seemed ridiculous since I was already paying a surprising high rate.
Wanted to like it more and it has potential to be much more, just needs some attention and investment to upgrade.
We upgraded to a harbour view room on the 51st floor & were not disappointed. The huge picture window gave us fabulous view of the bay & Kowloon. The room was huge,with a large comfy bed and lots of wardrobe space. Plenty of choice of tea and coffee and a nicely stocked mini bar, and we were brought jasmine tea & warm flannels when we arrived. The bathroom was fab,with a bath and separate walk in shower, l’occitane toiletries (that were replenished several times in our 2 night stay) and a tv! The staff were courteous & helpful and always on hand. We ate in the Chinese restaurant and the food was very good, but nothing could match the amazing breakfast, which offered a huge range of food from pastries, bacon & eggs to dumplings, noodles & rice dishes. We would definitely stay here again.
My previous experience of other Shanghai-La hotels has been extremely good and this one did not disappoint.
It’s well located, the rooms are large and well equipped, the are a variety of restaurants and the staff are all extremely well trained - courteous and efficient.
I shall definitely stay here again when next in town.
From the first contact nearly 6 months pre-trip to our last good-bye, our experience could not possibly have been more perfect! Resident GM Julian Darisse is not only an extraordinary hotelier, he is also so very charming! The concierge staff is perfect - name your need and they deliver! Special thanks to MaryAnn! And the greeting and last wave from Nana were so special...every staff member we came in contact with clearly loves their work and is committed to the highest level of service. Rooms are excellent, food options wonderful (and delicious) and location can't be beat.
