Feel free to judge Island Pacific Hotel by its cover. Behind this TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner’s gleaming façade, interiors are just as sleek, a perfect match for its setting in forward-thinking, tech-savvy Hong Kong. Of course, the actual tech amenities don’t hurt – specifically, the Handy smartphone that you’ll enjoy. The device allows for unlimited local calls and international calls to several countries and is stocked with social-media apps and a comprehensive city guide, too.
You’ll be centrally located, at the buzzing Sai Ying Pun. One of this city’s most chi-chi hangouts, it offers an eclectic mix of bars and restaurants, next to traditional dim-sum hot spots. For a glimpse into Hong Kong’s art scene, pop by the nearby Above Second, an art gallery that features up-and-coming artists, or take advantage of all the other things there are to see and do. It’s easy to get around from the hotel, with multiple forms of transport around, including complimentary shuttle services straight to the city center.
Rooms show off a simple, contemporary style, with sleek wood panels bringing warmth to each cozy space. Each also comes with a Handy phone, a complimentary smartphone that can be used throughout the duration of your vacation; you’ll be able to make local calls and international calls to several countries through it, and it’s equipped with social-media apps and a city guide. Of course, the scene-stealer is the jaw-dropping view of the Kowloon skyline and the view of Victoria Harbor.
Buffet breakfast is enjoyed at Centre Street Kitchen, the chic restaurant that opens daily from 6:45am to 11pm and boasts touches of Asian decor that were inspired by the nearby Sai Ying Pun. Lunch and dinner buffets are also served here, with an extensive range of international cuisines and unforgettable local dishes, including dim sum.
Located just along the river, the hotel features complimentary shuttle services to the city center. The local neighborhood is peppered with unique stores and restaurants to give you a taste of true Hong Kong culture, and the hotel has drawn up a culinary map of the surrounding area, for foodies. Sai Ying Pun MTR station is a five-minute walk away.
How to Get There
Excellent friendly hotel. All the staff we so helpful smiley and incredibly polite. They recommended things and made us feel safe and welcome. Loved the coffee machine in the room. Great location.A great hotel and I’d definitely go back
We found Hong Kong to be a stressful place to visit mainly because of the surprisingly few people who could understand English, especially taxi drivers and waitresses.
However our stay at the Island Pacific proved to be the ideal remedy ; the room was very quiet, the staff were extemely helpful ( a special mention to the concierge, Joe Ling, whom I christened 'Mr. H.K.' because he can help out with any problem or query !), the breakfast buffet was terrific wth everything from an English breakfast to fruit, continental breakfast, Chinese dishes - or even pancakes and waffles !
Run down, extremely noisy and not clean!
Pictures shown are mostly from the free renovated rooms on higher floors. Most rooms are in bad condition and overpriced. For upgrade they ask for additional payment.
Stayed here with visiting family, choose the hotel as my friend previously stayed here and it looked nice and the room was a fair size. The hotel is also conveniently located a few steps away from the A11 bus stop.
It is very close to the MTR.
Check in was smooth. They have done away with bottle water in the rooms and you fill up by the lift. A great initiative to reduce plastic bottles in a city that does actually waste and use a lot of plastic.
The room I got was actually tiny and a lot smaller than what my friend previously had so it was disappointing.
They do include a smartphone which you can use during your stay, which has data and calling capabilities - check thr restrictions.
I had a shower and the bodywash/shampoo bottle was not peirced and inserted in the dispenser correctly so I had a shower without anything and it was frustrating as I couldn't run out and get my own in the room as the shower floor had filled up with water pretty quickly and if I opened the door it would of flooded.
Eventually, I had too as it was getting cold with the water off and the water wasn't draining at all. So I had a cold shower and no shower products to use to boot. I called housekeeping and she came in with a fork and just used it on the drain and all the water disappeared. I want expecting a fork to be used in this way!
The mini fridge is pretty much useless. It is too small and because they keep it in a wooden cupboard, it becomes hot and the mini fridge inside is warm.
The TV is not very good. Most of it was not receiving a good reception and was fuzzy.
Despite paying £100 a night here, breakfast wasn't included. Which is pretty lame.
This place is convenient though, the staff are friendly.
This place is better than average but not very good.
I'd probably would stay again, but perhaps request a different room type.
A great deal for us. Initially we were not sure about this property and based on online reviews we have booked it. When we arrived here, we were pleasantly surprised to see the property and staff's behaviour. They are really good.
