How to Get There
A very well kept and managed hotel with a great range of facilities. Close to MTR station, restaurants and some shops. Staff are friendly and helpful. Restaurant pricing is a little high but quality is good.
Arrived to find that the hotel had no record of our booking. Turned out the travel agent had booked it in the wrong name! Young lady in the Harbour Lounge (Millie?) was fantastic trying to sort this out in spite of time difference problem. Can not fault the hotel, very glad we paid extra for the Harbour Lounge, well worth it. Free shuttle into town was very efficient. Excellent hotel.
Its my first time be with Harbour Group. I stayed with them in Hong Kong Kowloon for 3 days last week - Its amazing experience. But seems bit expensive. Staff are friendly and food was mouthwatering. I mistakenly booked for Harbour Grand Hong Kong - has to be on Kowloon, tried to switch but they deny - which is same. If they are sister hotels, the systems has to work.
Hongkong is always one of my favorite destinations, but the recent experience in this hotel makes me really disappointment.
As you could see from the picture I posted, (The light is not bright enough I hope the pixel is good enough after uploaded) there are dark spots, 1 big and surrounds by small ones. That’s made in the 1st hr I got in the room. Then I called to ask someone to clean it, and point out the hygiene is the most important for a hotel in my view, don’t wanna mention it’s a 5star hotel.
The cleaning lady came very fast, but I’m really surprised by her attitude. First she said ‘ oh... just small spots’ and then she said:’ did you make it?’.... I was really shocked by her words and I told her to see it clearly before she wiped it out with a wet tissue, it’s dry! How could I make it in the short time and make it dry!!! And quite obviously the color is dark, I don’t know what it is or I don’t want to imagine... Blood, or tea or coffee stains? But how could tea stains be there? Did they pour unfinished coffee or tea in the bathtub and didn’t clean it thoroughly?
I hope someone can see it. The way of service is really making HK ugly.
I had the pleasure of staying here for 6 nights on a business trip.
Given the length of my stay, I chose the Harbour Grand over a couple of other nearby hotels as I had the impression that it was more 'homely' in the rooms. I was not disappointed.
My room was clean, comfortable, a great size and had a FABULOUS view (was very happy indeed with the view - big plus)! In addition, the amenities were good and toiletries etc stocked regularly. Being able to relax on the sofa (and in a smoking room) rather than having to sit in a chair at a desk or on the bed the whole time added to that home away from home feel, with the added touch of luxury in the surroundings. The desk facing out to the harbour was great for when I needed to work in the room. WiFi was functional when connected, but did have a tendency to drop from time to time. Didn't really cause any disruption to my work though.
The multiple restaurants on site are convenient and varied cuisine (I will review the one I used a couple of times separately) and the room service was prompt and of a good standard. I found food to be slightly expensive in relation to travel and accommodation, but I found that throughout my trip so I think it's more HK in general rather than the hotel itself. I ate at a few different places during my time and the hotel menus were consistently priced with other meals I had.
Getting around from the hotel is easy, with a great promenade to run along if so inclined. It's just a few minutes walk to public transport, shops nearby, the harbour quite literally on the doorstep, and taxis available at all times it seems! I needed a taxi fairly early on a Sunday morning, and was shocked when the concierge was able to just hail one immediately. On the topic of location, it is worth mentioning that the area is largely residential. I actually liked that, but you do need to travel from the hotel to get to tourist sites. It's totally worth the trip in my opinion though, especially as the transport links are so good.
Customer service was evident throughout, although the only reason I have given 4 stars rather than 5 is because the breakfast service wasn't to the same standard as every other part of the hotel. I've made allowances as it gets VERY busy, but once you've been seated it's difficult to get anyone's attention beyond that. I had to ask multiple times for coffee, on more than one occasion, and when needing to get to work it wasn't ideal. The staff at breakfast seemed flustered and not especially cheerful, unlike colleagues elsewhere (again - it's busy, but a smile takes no time ;) )
That said, the range of food was very good. Cold/hot/Asian/European - something for everyone.
I didn't get chance to use the pool or gym sadly, but I did have a peek and they both looked lovely. I imagine for a tourist in summer, re-charging by the pool would be a pleasure.
Thank you for a lovely, comfortable stay. I really did feel at home in my room (sadly I don't get the view at home!) and will absolutely look to stay again next time I visit HK.
