How to Get There
This was the first time I was able to introduce the next generation of my family to the Harbour Grand Hotel.
This time 2 members of the family were able to celebrate their birthday in the excellent surrounding of the restaurant and the Club Lounge.
As usual we were able to experience the excellent service of Grace Wu and her team.
On our return to Australia all members of the family were able to say that neither Hong Kong nor the Harbour Grand had disappointed them and that it had indeed been a memorable holiday
Harbour Grand Hotel was an excellent hotel. Small problem at check in (not their fault) was solved with the least amount of fuss. Nice big rooms with views of the harbour. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay again if I went back to Hong Kong. (not very likely- too crowded and developed for me)
We requested a room on a higher floor, and they gave us an upgrade to the club floor on the 40th floor. How awesome is that? The room turned out to be fabulous. Luxurious bathroom with a TV an electronically-operated curtain because otherwise it's a massive glass window between the room and bathroom. There's actual real bar soap instead of just the liquid stuff, and scales.
The mattress was very nice and soft -no Chinese hard beds here, and pillows were top quality. Nice blackout curtains so the light doesn't come in.
Alas, the upgrade didn't extend to actual club lounge access. We could buy our way in, but to make it worth the price, we'd have to take advantage of everything on offer -breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails. And if we did that, we wouldn't be able to try as much of the amazing food in Hong Kong.
Location is several stops away from Central, but once you're at your MTR stop, it's a very short walk (5 minutes). The shuttles to Hong Kong Station are very convenient. I liked staying on the more quiet Causeway Bay side. It's convenient to ferries and Hong Kong Station, and even though it's more quiet, most of the sights (such as they are) are actually on this side of the harbor.
And make sure to take advantage of the nightly opening of the sky terrace on the 42nd floor from 5:40 to 8:15PM. You get a panoramic view of HK harbor, it's free, and unlike Victoria Peak, the crowds are non-existent.
Our stay was a pleasant one. Staffs were attentive to our needs and friendly as well.
For Muslim visitors, if you intend to book a room, omit the buffet breakfast as you can pay separately at the Harbour Grand Cafe which makes Halal breakfast specially for you.
We already paid for the buffet breakfast and didn’t know most of the buffet are not Halal. So the Cafe Manager Franky accomodated to our needs and ordered for us our Halal breakfast.
In addition we could also have the breads, cereals, pastries, fruits and drinks at the buffet counters.
we stayed here for one night before joining our cruise ship , we had a suite facing the harbour which was of a very large size , the amenities were all ok a few signs of wear and tear but nothing that would stand out , we ate in the buffet which had something for everyone , i had lobster and king crab legs which were lovely , its quite pricey here for drinks etc but tell me of a hotel that isnt , was good for a night or 2 while passing through en route , no complaints
