How to Get There
It has taken awhile to get to around to the review - but here it is. I was impressed by the hotel, the staff and how by the end of our four night stay we were starting to feel like the Cordis could be home. A first time visit to HK it was difficult to locate where we should stay, however wanting a bit more of a luxury option yet near the MTR (subway) and a location that made us feel like we were experiencing HK (not in a overly touristy or business area) I feel we met all those requirements at the Cordis.
The five star experience and luxury was present in the room, service of the staff, amenities (gym was excellent with amazing views). Our floor manager, Ken was delightful – not only did Ken make sure we were enjoying our stay, he provided a few little extras that just made us feel special. Also Coco did an amazing job with cleaning our room and again with the little extras that exceeded expectations.
We loved our stay and will be back. Also the Cordis scent they use throughout the hotel is so amazing - we had to buy some candles to take home with us!
There is so much I can rave about the Cordis Mong Kok - it was all brilliant, from the seemless check in, to the pool, to the checking out under hard circumstances (there were protests right outside. I can't say enough good about the place.
I arrived at 7.30 in the morning. Wendy on the desk was good enough to offer me an upgrade to get me into a room quickly - I can't thank her enough for this. It also gave me a complementary breakfast the next day. Also a good thing. Worth the reasonable price.
The room is exceptionally appointed, the bathroom is great, the towels plush and the hot water plentiful.
As I needed some sleep after an overnight flight, the comfortable bed and the black out blinds meant I got a few hours kip before heading out to explore.
The pool is one of the best hotel pools I've encountered. On the 42nd floor, it gives excellent views of Kowloon and the city and it's warm enough to be hospitable, but cool enough to be refreshing (it's also has a proper deep end - as a swimmer that's always appreciated) I also loved the free lychee ice blocks on offer - such a nice touch. The gym is well maintained and well appointed too.
You get the feeling the staff really care about what they do and how they serve you. When I checked out I was advised to get to the airport early as there were mass protests occuring. It was good to have some help catching a cab.
The staff go above and beyond. The rooms are fantastic. The location is great. I got this at a great price from Qantas hotels. Why wouldn't you stay here? I'd love to come back.
Oh, and the soap dishes are freaks of design and so great, I walked away with two of them - on sale from the Concierge. You'll see what I mean.
Stayed at the Cordis Hotel in Hong Kong in mid October and it met all my expectations and then some! I am a big researcher when it comes to my vacations so the bar was set high upon booking. The staff and the hotel were top notch all the way. We are from the United States and everyone is well aware of the protest situation so I had many concerns of whether or not to cancel this well planned trip. From constant communication with Ms. Lam, Ms Yu and Ms Hui before my arrival date, they helped calm my concerns and were so accommodating in every way possible and they were spot on and replied right away. The above staff could not do enough in every possible way. The concierge Eric was terrific in letting us know where not to go to avoid protests as well as highlights to do and see. We had no problems with any police activity, protests or violence and I urge others to take advantage and go to Hong Kong now since it is less crowded due to people's fears. The media has a way of showing the worst and we did not feel threatened or unsafe at all while in Hong Kong.
Back to the review. Cordis is located in the Mongkok area and this was a perfect location. It is attached to langham mall which is wonderful and close to the metro. The hotel is first class all the way. Walking into the hotel you smell a wonderful fresh fragrance and they escorted us to the Club floor for immediate private checkin and upgraded us to a large suite that had 2 bathrooms as well as a separate lounging area. Waiting for us was a bottle of champagne and chocolate cake with a nice note for our Anniversary- wonderful personalize touches that make all the difference. Great comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom is modern with marble and has romantic lights that light up blue at night serve as a night light. The shower is spacious with great water pressure. They even leave comfy meditation socks on the bed! How thoughtful.
The benefits of being on the club level are so worth it! The views are outstanding of the city. You also have a different concierge that is helpful in every way named Eric.
The club lounge is an area to relax and have drinks, freshly brewed tea, snacks, all types of food through various times of day, champagne etc.
Cordis holds complimentary Thai chi classes daily as well as wonderful wine tastings. I am a wine lover and they served wines according to your tastes. A highlight for me! Just bring a jacket because the temperature in the tasting room is cold indeed.
The concierge will give you a portable pocket wifi to use while staying at the cordis. This came in very handy.
The pool area is open air and the perfect temperature especially needed in hong kong . The steam room worked great and the gym was state of the art.
The breakfast buffet was huge and had everything you could ever want on a buffet.
Every staff member at the Cordis was friendly and looked you in the eye and greeted you with a smile. The Cordis is an exceptional hotel that makes you feel special and relaxed in this hustling Hong Kong. This is my new favorite place to stay and it deserves 10 stars if they had this option on this site. We will be back! Thank you everyone for a memorable week.
