We had cocktails there one evening with great views of the city. A perfect way to finish an evening with friends. We really enjoyed this visit. Plenty of tables and areas to sit and chat. Good drinks menu with nibbles.

Good hotel in West Beijing

I stayed in this hotel for a conference and it was a good fit for purpose. Conference facilities are huge and well-equipped. The hotel offers a rich breakfast and there are several bars and restaurant, which work till late. The hotel is approx 30+ minute ride by car from the city centre but good for business stays. Summer Palace is quite close, though. I arranged a guided English language tour through the reception and it was very good move. The room was ok but will probably need a facelift sometime soon

Bit far from “central” Beijing but excellent service and spacious rooms.

My first experience with Shangri-La didn’t disappoint. Not sure if it was the time of the year, but at times we felt like the only ones in this hotel... or staff was just that attentive. We stayed at the newer wing, where we checked in on a high floor. Staff greet you, let you sit down, enjoy refreshments, and watch our little one as you check in. There is a baby play room that was nicely done on that floor to kill some time. Once reserved the manager showed us to our room where they thoughtfully had a baby tent up and humidifier. The crib was not to our liking so they were able to switch that our for us. There was a minor hiccup with the rooms temp settings, so we had to switch rooms but that was painless. The standard room here was very spacious. They even brought a refrigerator upon request to store our food.

There are so many hotels in Beijing, the best hotel in the west belongs to shangri-la. The staff are also very careful. Crystal Dong found out that today is my birthday. It was so thoughtful of her to help me celebrate my birthday with a surprise.
