Great stay at this hotel
Reviewed 1 week ago

Everything was Excellent during my stay. On Saturday night there is a band playing at the Lobby Bar and may be a little noisy until 11pm, but other than that, all was great. Buffete breakfast has all traditional local dishes to eat and also the normal meals you find at any other hotel in the US.

Great Stay at Marriott Tuxtla Gutierez

We stayed two nights here over our Christmas Break. Our room was nice and clean. The staff treated us like royalty. Pascal Martinez Lopez brought our luggage to our room, gave us valuable information about the property and surrounding area. We had a meal at the breakfast buffet and it was marvelous. We will definitely come back in the future.

Disapointment - definitely not Marriot quality

When you choose Marriot, you expect certain level of hotel. This time our expectations definetelly did’nt met reality. This hotel is architect’s nightmare. Probably it was designed as a labirynth initially. But it’s rather small disadvantage among the others. Walls are made of paper - I spent whole night listening my neighbour’s farts! In the morning I found bugs in my bathroom (photo of the slower one attached). At a swimming pool area there are no towels. Receptionist barelly understands English, but can’t communicate. At corridors there are dry leafs from hotel trees. All equipment was „tired”, eg. matress, dirty wall in bathroom. The only plus of the hotel is quite good cousine - lunch and breakfast were good. To summarize, this hotel made me distrustful to Marriot network and next time I will think twice before I book a room.

The worst Marriott in the world

Don’t let the pretty pictures on the web site or the inexpensive rates fool you. You do not want to stay here!

First, check-in took an hour. I had booked two rooms, but without my permission, they upgraded me and not my kids who were in the second room, then demanded a huge ransom in order to have my minor children near me. When I told them I didn’t want the upgrade at all, that I just wanted to be near the kids, they informed me they were giving me their worst room. There are plenty of vacancies here but they gave me a room overlooking a parking lot, and when we arrived the room wasn’t even ready: it was full of plumbers! They actually went out of their way to give me a room that didn’t work!

Then in an attempt to make the best of it, we took the kids to the pool. The pool hasn’t been cleaned in days and the kids couldn’t even go in the wading pool because it was full of dead insects and rotted leaves. The big pool was cleaner but there was a bees nest near it. When we reported it to the front desk, they said, “yes, we already know about that.”

We tried reporting to the manager that the keys they gave us didn’t work, that families who book two rooms together shouldn’t be separated, and that their pool needed to be cleaned but we did not get the impression that anyone here cared about those things—or about us.

The only thing this hotel has going for it are their rates, but even though it’s cheap, it really isn’t worth it.

Another excellent Marriott property

Stayed one night to conclude a week in Mexico. Not surprisingly, this was another wonderful Marriott hotel. The dining area and pool are stunning just to look at. Lots of glass and open air makes the property refreshing an inviting. The room was luxurious as well. Not disappointed at all. Highly recommend!
