Disappointed
Reviewed 4 months ago

Apart from a misunderstanding on our first night which the hotel has apologised for and made amends with a lovely bottle of Mexican sparkling wine, Iberian type ham & cheeses, this place is by no means 1st rate. It seems to be geared up mainly for events (lots of big marquees in the grounds). On our 1st night we were 2 of only 3 guests and we haven't seen any more during our 3 night stay (now 14th Feb). It's a good 10 minutes drive to the city centre. Lovely grounds but no comfortable chairs to sit in. Bed & room fantastic but no use for the Jacuzzi which would have wasted a vast volume of water. No swimming pool. Restaurant OK for breakfast but can't imagine that it can compete with what's around in the city.

Beautiful Hotel but far from everything

Nice fancy modern rooms or you can get some colonial spanish ones, big yard with big gardens but the heater didn't work it was so cold, and you must get a taxi all the time especially at night cause it's a 30 minutes walk to the main plaza

Nice Restaurant with Good Food

We were a large group and we went for an early dinner. The service was very good, and the food just OK. The place is very nice; a bit contemporary Hacienda style with very large gardens so if you bring your children they may run and have a great time. Prices are goo you may expect to pay about 25 dollars per person.

Great hacienda to have a meal

This spot was out of the way but worth finding. An old Spanish hacienda with beautiful gardens. We had a lovely lunch in their restaurant. Service was very attentive- a bit slow but the meal delightful. We tried the onion soup, medallions with pepper sauce and large shrimp with tequila. Yummmy...

Wine list was not that good

Will try the hotel next time we are in town. It look charming, welcoming and quiet.

Way overpriced New Year's Eve in idyllic surroundings
Reviewed 1 year ago

Partly our fault for not making reservations ahead of time, we were left with El Parador or else noisy, alcohol rich restaurants in town. We came to visit El Parador which sits a bit outside the city center and were impressed by the beautiful construction and the extremely lovely and gracious gardens. So we dove in and returned for New Year's Eve. We knew the price ahead of time, it is true. We though we'd get some fabulous dinner. That was unfortunately not to be the case. Meager portions with mediocre food. Very disappointing. In a city which has huge abundance of great restaurants and otherwise amazing food, we were dumbfounded to be served such terrible food, having dished out more than about 1,200 pesos per person! And one had to pay extra for alcohol- they only sold alcohol and spirits by the bottle and refused, for instance, to serve a screwdriver unless you bought the bottle of vodka!

Outright shameless opportunistic attitude! Robo a mano armada...en una institución religiosa. No entiendo...
