How to Get There
This elegant modern hotel with contemporary Thai decor is located away from the city center on the bank of the Mae Ping river. Our deluxe room was very well-appointed and comfortable with an interesting waterfall feature in the spacious bath giving the room a spa-like feel. The room had a large balcony with a cabana. The pool and grounds are attractive and immaculate facing out on the river giving it a tranquil ambiance. The hotel offers a shuttle to (but not back from) the night and weekend markets in the city but its just as easy to take a Tuk Tuk for the short (but not walkable) distance. Apparently they can drop off but not wait at the hotel but they are standing out of sight just off the property to the left hand side. The staff was superb and my wife says the Thai massages in the Spa are heavenly. The breakfast buffet was just average and not quite up to the high standard of the rest of the property.
Nestled in a corner of the city, the hotel is set in traditional architecture with cosy ambience. Room was big and offers good view of the pool and river. Service staff in restaurant was polite and the place offers good variety for breakfast. Room rate was a bit steep though.
The Ratilanna is a lovely hotel with spacious and very clean rooms. While this hotel is not within the old city walls, it’s easy to catch a Tuk Tuk to the night market and the weekend walking markets. The hotel has a wonderful spa and pool area with a view of the river. The breakfast is fabulous. The service was very good. Would recommend this hotel for your stay in Chang Mai.
Beautiful hotel with lovely rooms with balconies and an wonderful large swimming pool. The staff were very accommodating. I only had one issue. We went to the restaurant and ordered desserts and drinks. The hotel is pricey, mind you. I asked if I could have one orange to take to my room. No mention of charging me, I thought one orange would be OK. When we received the bill they had charged me the equivalent of $3 US dollars for it! WOW! Other than that, the place was lovely and the staff helpful. We did have to take a Grab (Uber) everywhere; however, as it was not within walking distance of the market or restaurants.
Disappointed. My plan was to have quiet and peaceful nights in Chiang Mai on 24&25 Dec nights. That’s why I moved from a hotel in Chiang Mai old town to this resort. But on both nights, the hotel had arranged outdoor parties with performances, the noise of which was totally against what a resort should do. Sadly I made a wrong choice.
