How to Get There
What a lovely place to stay rooms were huge and really nicely decorated. The bathroom was great for myself being disabled having a walk in shower was a bonus without having to ask for one the room and bathroom were very clean . The walk from the car park was a bit of a hike for myself so be warned if you are disabled and have trouble walking. I only have one thing to complain about which was when we went to breakfast we were seated quickly, but no waitress / waiter came to take our order after almost 30 mins a couple sat close to our table and within minues a waitress came and took their order.I called the waitress over and explained how long we had been there waiting for someone to take our order, the lady took our order but I did think it was a long time to wait .
For 2 years we had been for the Xmas party night at this hotel. Golf beforehand - which was excellent - golf course condition for December was in great condition. Evening meal was just ok - but catering for large numbers is difficult however most of our party did not enjoy the main meal- the disco was the real dissapointment with the music just boring for the first two hours, The DJ was arrogant when we asked him to change the songs to encourage some dancing. He just wanted to do things his way.bedrooms were clean and comfortable Breakfast was great. Overall the evening entertainment and the table seating was the main disappointment. Unlikely we will go next year, but after two years perhaps a change is best.
We stayed at the Macdonald Portal Hotel for a short stay at the end of November 2018. Utilising one of the hotel's offers.
We were booked for B&B but added an evening meal to the booking.
We were welcomed by the reception staff, who were friendly and informative.
The room was excellent and all the usual tea/coffee making facilities, hair drier mini fridge etc... we're present.
The bed was king sized and very comfortable and we slept well.
Our evening meal was very tasty and breakfast was excellent
We made use of the hotel's swimming pool but did not use any of the spa treatments, maybe next time.
We were impressed with the hotel and have already booked a return visit for January.
Had a brilliant girls' spa weekend in November. Great facilities including steam rooms, saunas etc. and the massage was one of the best I've had! Lovely food too. Really attentive service from the ladies on the front desk.
we stayed for one night bed breakfast and evening meal and the food was very good, small portions but thats the norm i suppose in these sort of hotels.
the ladies had a spa treatment while the men played golf and all of us were very impressed. bar prices are expensive but the village of tarporley is a 5 minute drive so we spent the evening in the bars down there.
