Kalyves Beach Hotel

- Wandering through the Venetian-style alleyways and harbourfront fortress of Chania
- Taking a trip out onto Lake Kournas to admire the serene views

- There are two swimming pools, but keep in mind that towels cost extra
The scenic island of Crete has a diverse landscape of beautiful golden beaches and striking rocky peaks overlooking the enchanting Aegean Sea; all of which can be enjoyed from the small fishing village of Kalyves on the island’s northern shoreline. Relax and unwind in this picturesque setting where culture and history are set against the magnificent backdrop of the ethereal White Mountains.
Kalyves Beach Hotel occupies an enviable position, with direct access to a long stretch of sandy Blue Flag beach. Inside, tiled flooring, wicker-style furniture, arched doorways and alcoves reiterate a Mediterranean vibe, and guests can enjoy indoor swimming, a mini-spa with Jacuzzi and sauna, an intimate outdoor pool area lined with sunbeds, plus drinking and dining options looking out to the sea or the Xydas river.
The large fishing village of Kalyves brims with Cretan character and its terracotta buildings and domed monuments pepper charming local walks. Nearby towns house historic attractions and stunning trails and walks in equal measure. Be sure to visit the laid-back old town of Rethymon for its glorious architecture, including the Sacred Monastery of Arkadi, or set out on a horse riding expedition, a sailing trip or a diving excursion to Elephant’s Cave.
How to Get There
In the hotel, although rated 4*, rooms are comfortable and clean but you have to buy beach towel from reception 1.50 per towel per day and toiletries only given once, No tourist information or maps at reception. Food was average. However everybody was friendly and we enjoyed our stay. Sorry not coming back.
We spent great 10 days at Kalyves Beach Hotel! Food was really tasty, Giorgios -the Chef was always plesant during meals. Accomodation was satisfying, with beautiful sea view, room was cleand every day. We are very greatful to the reception staff, especially Penelope, who was really helpful and because of her assistance me and my pregnant wife felt taken care of during holidays. We recomend visiting Kalyves Beach Hotel without hesitation!
Enjoyed every moment of the stay - idyllic setting (homely, neat, green, calm, with the beach accessible from within the resort), very helpful & friendly staff, fantastic food available almost throughout the day, very clean, different classes during the day (mostly free) and great entertainment in the evenings. Would have been great if swimming pools were heated and the gym had more treadmills. Bathroom floors got wet quite easily, could do with a mop in the room.
We have been coming to Crete for many years, but always rent a villa for the month of August. This time however,we were only staying for 2 days in order to attend some ceremonies in Chania,so we decided to stay in nearby Kalyves. The Kalyves Beach Hotel
Is truly a hidden gem, which offers everything you could need and more. Our room was delightful, spotlessly clean, quiet, and the bed extremely comfortable.Penelope and all the staff were very welcoming and took care of all our needs.
Our stay in this hotel was perfect. Helpful staff, tastefull food, equipment for children, close to the beach, tidy room, sophisticated evening program. And what was the best? Very nice and skillful animator Iliana. I liked her dancing lessons. Thank you very much!
