The Lowdown

A jewel in Crete’s crown, Cretan Pearl Resort & Spa is situated along a scenic and rocky stretch of shore, just under two miles from the beach made famous by the film Zorba the Greek. Given a rejuvenating facelift in 2015, rooms here have been transformed into havens of minimalist luxury, beautifully presented in tasteful, neutral color schemes.
A full range of cosmetic and aesthetic treatments are on offer at the sprawling Ayus Spa, where you can book yourself in for a bit of pampering. With two seawater swimming pools on hand, you’ll won’t even  need to venture down to the beach if you prefer to soak up the views from a sun lounger, within a cocktail umbrella’s length of Eros poolside bar.

neither long stays nor visits to the city or beach

Generally i can´t recommend this hotel, because for to make a nice relax-holidays, they need to have more better food!!! and for to make sightseeing, there are more better locations, i´m sorry :(
The Hotel offers 5 stars.....why???? coffe taste like water, the juices are more better from the bottles of supermarkt and the 10€ cocktails on the swimming pool are prepared on a bottle!!!would be served in plastic glas, and nobody make a service for it, also i had to pick it up myself....also 5 stars....
The next day we decided to take the menu a la carte on the Hamingway restaurant, we thought that must be more better, because the price is 40€ pro person and we had to make a reservation one day before, that was my big mistake, also the saloon is in one corner separated from the another restaurants and without terrace (the only thing that is worth it) we asked for to change the place because we wanted to enjoy the sunset during the diner but it wasn´t be acepted.
The drink wasn´t included in the price but we also take a bottle of wine, this was sour.. and the metrè has had to taste them and had to bring a new one.
Food...just 3 dishes to choose..the starters were exactly like the food in the buffet, we order a dish with rice and prawns....a thawed rice and prawns!!!
And please, never order ducky meat, it taste really like a paperboard..the deserts were surprisingly really amazing, but we had to take them in our room, beacause the amount of food was exaggerated....again 5 stars....
I feel me like deceived, because we went to days more in another hotel, we eated for 60€ --3 persons-- drinks inclusive, the place is directly on the beach, and every dish was smaller than in cretan pearl but very especial good taste and the most important thing FRESH.
Also without car is imposible to acces in this hotel, and to be in Chania city is needed 30 min way.
Maybe that is the reason why they try to confuse the people and make they thinking that they are paiying for a 5 stars, i think the people who spend all their holidays there, they will definitly not know the real gastronomy from Crete, very painful for a 5 stars....
Spa & Wellnes can i say nothing, because we just tried one time to come after the beach to relax a little before the diner starts and they wanted to take 25€ pro person just for one hour, the same price for one day right but.....if you want to spend the day in the city or in the beach...you don´t have time for enjoy it!! also in my opinion, it must to be included in the price or maybe make prices or Abos for hours.
The service was really friendly, but everywhere you go on the island, the people smile at you.

Nice experience

I spent 2 weeks at the Cretan Pearl Resort. The hotel is very nice, clean and comfortable. The All inclusive package is rich and the hotel staff very prepare and nice.
What I really like about the Hotel was the position, on a cliff facing the sea. It is nice to face the sea and from the lunch/dinner balcony, you could see an amazing sunset tasting good food prepared with fresh ingredients by Gianni. The swimming pool area is well kept, clean salty water, large and good for kids and adults. From this area, the bar where to find drinks, food or ice cream is just 5 steps away. Also, you can find the swimming pool area with slides, my kids love it. The rooms are spacious and clean, comfortable beds with a nice balcony. The overall is very nice nothing to complain. I suggest renting a car to be able to visit Crete cause it is a very beautiful place and cause the hotel is situated in an exclusive area. Like in every place there are few things to improve but I am confident in suggesting this place to everyone looking for a nice experience in Crete.

The spa is a must

An amazing spa experience! Had a two hour spot treatment that included the sea salt scrub. It was very relaxing. My skin was so smooth afterwards. We were able to take a soak in the warm bath right next to the spa, which helped us relax and enjoy your day even more. Will definitely go again the next time I’m visiting Crete.

More of a hotel than a Spa...
Reviewed 1 week ago

We are leaving today from a small part of paradise on the beautiful island of Crete. If you want a quiet retreat sort of spa then this isn't for you, this is more of a smart hotel than a Spa. We have used the spa facilities for treatments which were excellent, the staff were also lovely. The room was one of the best we have stayed in and the large bed was really comfortable, the air con was also good. All the staff were friendly and helpful and kept spotlessly clean. The all inclusive food was good and regularly changed, therefore I think the only annoying thing was the continuously played music, there is no escape from it in the main part of the hotel, it's not loud or with a heavy beat ...just slightly annoying!!! I would recommend this hotel but either hire a car or use the local bus and shuttle bus to see more of this island. Don't miss the chance to visit Chania!

Fabulous hotel and staff!

We were open minded when arriving as had read a few negative reviews but we had such a cheap all inclusive deal we didn't mind if it was below par. From the moment we arrived we were treated with care and respect and were even given sandwiches on our arrival (which was 1am and the restaurant was closed). There are little touches that were appreciated such as the spa staff coming around and giving a short massage to our sunburnt shoulders with aloe vera and hotel staff bringing some cold watermelon around the pool. The hotel itself is spotless and very pleasant. We had a side sea view room and it had a comfortable bed and was a lovely space to cool down in the air conditioning. The food was nice too. I am a vegetarian and my fiancé is a meat eater and we both found the food varied and tasty. The cocktails were strong too! The entertainment team Dorota and Miros worked tirelessly. They were absolutely great and were friendly and fun to be around. There were plenty of activities to join in if you wanted to throughout the day (aqua aerobics, darts, water polo, rubber ring races). To conclude, we had a fantastic, relaxing, fun holiday and would definitely recommend this hotel!
