A jewel in Crete’s crown, Cretan Pearl Resort & Spa is situated along a scenic and rocky stretch of shore, just under two miles from the beach made famous by the film Zorba the Greek. Given a rejuvenating facelift in 2015, rooms here have been transformed into havens of minimalist luxury, beautifully presented in tasteful, neutral color schemes.
A full range of cosmetic and aesthetic treatments are on offer at the sprawling Ayus Spa, where you can book yourself in for a bit of pampering. With two seawater swimming pools on hand, you’ll won’t even need to venture down to the beach if you prefer to soak up the views from a sun lounger, within a cocktail umbrella’s length of Eros poolside bar.
How to Get There
Not far from Chania airport.. 20mins..
Clean hotel. Classed as 5 star... maybe for Crete but not what you would call 5 star in UK.
All staff very nice and friendly..
Food very good, not always hot but they improved this upon mentioning it👍🏻
In the middle of nowhere with a 30 mins walk to nearest village Stavros...
Bus to Chania was 2.30 euros!! Very cheap
Stavros beach nice few eateries...
4 hour flight.
Overall very good..
Me and my partner stayed for a week all inc in October.
The staff were fantastic. The spa too was nice.
We were very dissatisfied with the food. Every mealtime it was cold wether we were there when they opened or not.
Poor marking of vegetarian food.
No waiter service.
We changed rooms twice as the first one had a irritating buzz from the electric box. The second had a leaky shower and therefore very slippery floor.
Kettle but no condiments or cups.
Very basic rooms that seem to have been refurbed by a 10 year old. Very shoddy workmanship.
Two simple chairs on the balcony but no table.
Not cleaned to our usual 5 star standards.
Definitely not a 5 star. 3 at best.
We usually travel a bit more upmarket but wanted to try this as an extra holiday.
We won’t be doing it again.
Our overall impression was disappointment but with great staff.
The stuff were very helpful, all from reception, restaurant, Spa area, cleaning etc. We had all inclusive which was well worth. The food was fresh and with great variation.
The only thing we found negative were the room actually (nb.207).
THE ROOM: The bed were very low and hard, it felt that you slept at the floor. It would be better to have them with extra bed madrass and higher legs on it.
The room itself felt so sterilized and naked, no paintings or decoration on the walls. The bathroom smell like it was mold in there.
The floor in shower were quite dangerous because of the risk to slip around because of the shiny floor tiles.
CLEANLINESS: The quality of cleaning could be much better in my opinion. For an hotel classified with 5 stars I have much higher expectations of cleanliness and accuracy at this level. I have visited 3 star hotels that have much better quality.
IN STAVROS AREA: The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere. You can go out for a walk, but not expect to find any restaurants, bars or supermarkets they are far from here.
VISIT CHANIA CITY : You have to take a bus ride for about 30 minutes and it will cost 2.30 Euro for each person/ One way. Children up to 5 years travels for free. Ask for an time table in the reception.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
We booked a room for us and our 16 year old son. Got there and were given a small room with 1 double bed and a single side by side. I went back to reception and told yhem that wasn't the room we've booked for. A receptionist named Joanna and a crafty one named Dimitris tried to tell me that that was what I booked for, even though the first thing they noticed was that my son was really bg and ask for his age right at arrival. Thos should be on the system when we booked but it shows their craftiness. Then they said there was no interconnected room available for us.and will have to upgrade for 60 euros per night, being tired we agreed for 40 euros and Dimitris said per day. Without thinking much I paid 200 euror and came back later to ask for a refund as 40 times 4 nights equals 160 euros. A very rude receptionist named Donalis then made the matter worse , I decide to speak to the manager who said he will speak to management for a refund but tricked us until last minute and couldn't provide a receipt with 200 euros paid but showing 140 euros and 60 euros (deception). Spme guest complained about the wifi, and infrastructure to the point where they were going out every day until the evening. Some end up hire cars to go around . Parent with children should be aware of bugs in the room. I should recognise good staff from the SPA, Bars and restaurants. This place is perhaps a 3 star hotel for people that want to soak in the sun and nothing else. Parents with teen agers should stay away from this place. Ice cold swimming pool. A bunch of receptionist and managers that deceive guests without remorse. Stay away from this place!
Just returned from a week at the Cretan Pearl 1st impression were good.
its only 30 minutes from Chania airport which is a bonus if you hate long transfers, if a group of you i recommend you arranging your own transport as you will probably save a few quid there.
Important If you are looking for & Benidorm / blackpool type of holiday do not book here you will be disappointed however if you are looking for a relaxing holiday surrounded by great scenery then read on.
We was upgraded on arrival to a sea view room 312 which could fit a small village in it but not complaining we loved the extra space shame the sun didn't catch our 10 meter balcony but the sunbathing area was great & you always got a sea breeze.
buffet had great variety & no complaints however it would b good e for dishes to be marked up if suitable for vegetarians as my partner was a bit confused with some of the dishes
The décor was very white & clinical & I feel could be broken up a bit with some colour but that's my personal opinion. Some areas needed attention but as it was the end of season I am sure this will be addressed in closed season & as we left we could see this work was clearly underway. Some of the decking areas i feel need some serious attn
My only other gripe was the lack of power points in the rooms even though we had the largest apartment in the complex we struggled to find points to charge our various gadgets & make tea whilst watching the news. Minor issues i know.
The spa was fantastic & we made daily use of the sauna & steam room & used our free 15 minute treatment both my partner & myself went on to have further sessions.
I wouldn't rate this as a 5 star but a good 4 star however you get what you pay for & this was a great value holiday for us in fact I am looking in to get a large group of us to visit the Cretan next year around the same time.
I had a nice relaxing holiday thank you Cretan Pearl
