How to Get There
At check-in we were warmly greeted and given our room. We stayed on the second floor in a riverside room. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Sitting on our balcony and enjoying the river was very peaceful and relaxing. During our stay we were able to visit the restaurant and bar at different times. There are lovely river views from inside the restaurant and bar area. There is outside seating, as well. The service was great. The hotel is conveniently located to shopping and sightseeing. All the staff we encountered during our stay were helpful and eager to answer any questions we had. I highly recommend Riverhouse!
Stayed for two nights for a conference. I didn't pay a little extra to have a room on the riverside. (Once I saw the river, I was a wee bit disappointed I hadn't.) My room was spacious, clean and fine for what I wanted. I wasn't interested in amazing bathrooms or furnishings ... I would be in my room only to sleep. First night, I arrived around 3:00 o'clock or so from a long four hour ride. I was thirsty, hungry and tired. It was a bit challenging to find my room (it's kind of a maze), and I had to stop employees along the way to have them point me in the right direction. There are two basic levels to the entire hotel -- an upstairs and a downstairs, and if you have mobility issues, make that clear at check-in or before. (There are no elevators ... only stairs.) After unpacking and closing my eyes for a couple minutes (my room was quiet, which I appreciated), I went to the bar for happy hour. The food was excellent, the service great ... and after I left, I felt recharged and ready to check out Bend.
Having stayed at a lot of hotels in the last few years of my life, I can say that the service here was better than most in the U.S. -- especially at the front desk. The guy who checked me in actually remembered me two nights later when I asked for late check out. (He remembered my last name, as well.) And in general, I felt that the staff were more invested in making us feel welcomed than many hotels I've stayed in throughout the country. That's the hotel's biggest plus, besides that beautiful Deschutes that roars past.
Would I stay here again? Yes!
The hotel's biggest weakness: the wifi in the room dropped out now and then (requiring me to restart my computer), and the hotel could do a better job in making sure that guests had a fair chance of getting to their rooms without getting lost. Better maps, perhaps?
The food for the conference was quite good -- especially the two lunches. And the wifi in the conference area was quite strong. I never had any issues in that separate building.
Overall, a great stay.
Nice location & the front desk gals were wonderful. Great restaurant & bar but the hotel itself was dated & not so clean. We had cobwebs in every corner of our room. The patio was a great idea but it was too dirty to enjoy with all the bugs, didn't look like it had been swept in months. The restaurant was great with a beautiful patio & the bar was good as well. Plenty of tv's to watch a game or catch up on some football scores. The bartender rolled his eyes when I sent my margarita back because it came out with salt & I ordered it without... he should probably try to keep his reactions to himself as we were sitting right there.
We would not stay here again.
