How to Get There
The hotel lobby reminds me of my grandfather’s ancestral house. You can help yourself with the sweets in the container which is a seed type of preserved candy. Staff Jennelyn guided us to our room and served Longan tea while explaining the hotel amenities. I really love how they incorporate their tradition to the hotel service its like a cultural feast. If only its easy to adjust the shower faucet temperature and more privacy when showering coz the sliding doors doesn’t have locks it would be better. Overall it’s an excellent hotel with clean rooms and relaxing ambiance.
This is my second time staying, the first being 2-3 years ago. YTL hotels have always surprised me with their quality, value for money and service but regrettably this stay ran contrary to my prior experiences with this brand.
On our first day, we asked the front desk to make a reservation at a local restaurant which we were subsequently informed it was all settled. Upon our arrival at the restaurant in the evening we were told they did not have a reservation for us - we had to join the queue. Not a good start.
On the second morning, I had porridge for breakfast and immediately noticed it was sour!!! I cannot believe that they would serve food that had gone bad to guest. I had 2 mouthful and rejected the rest. This gave me a slight stomachache an hour or two later. Thankfully I got over it by nightfall.
Our first stay here 2 - 3 years ago was wonderful but after the latest experience I would be looking elsewhere.
The Majestic is a classy old world hotel with an intimate feel. We really did love this hotel but it was just too far away from the center of the tourist areas and the riverside bars and restaurants. The area by the hotel had broken sidewalks and was not that pleasant to the eye. We did find a lovely restaurant down the street at Hotel Mimosa where we shared a huge grouper. The location is just fine if you have a car or take taxis, but we like to walk.
This is my 6th stay at YTL hotels, known for its quality hotel and service. A trip back to my hometown with a short staycation at a so called boutique hotel the MAJESTIC MELAKA with family was SPOILED at the beginnng at reception : that I have booked and my credit card has been charged for four rooms for our small family of four. I initially emailed the central office in KL and later called them on 7th dec but was told that the ‘online booking website’ Had special rates so I used the online booking .
It was made worsen that there is NO WAY for the majestic melaka to contact the central office because they only work office hours and closes at 1 on saturday.
How is that a website OWNED by a reputable chain hotel can book the same person for 4 rooms when she has emailed and explicitly say a family of four witj 2 sons age 10 and 11 and we need two adjoining rooms to accomodate us?
Not the standard of a 5 star hotel
Not rewarding at all as our mood are ruined
We stayed for a night as was on a very short trip to the heritage city of Melaka. Lovely hotel with a cosy feel and friendly staff. The room is good size and had a great view. Bath tub was beautiful. The location of the hotel is very good with a big shopping mall in front of the hotel and a 10 minutes walk to Jonker Street. Thanks
We had a lovely breakfast the next day and a really lovely though short stay at the hotel. I would stay again if I return to Melaka.
