MAJESTIC STAY AT THE MAJESTIC!
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

When planning our trip to Malacca due to my avid interest in the history of Malacca
I really thought that there was only one place to stay and that was of course The
Majestic......
We had a wonderful stay, it really is the only place to stay if you have any interest in
the history and want to be part of it. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely staff and made to feel most comfortable instantly.....more arriving at someones rather grand home than a hotel.
Our room was in the new wing of the hotel which has been created totally in keeping with the original colonial part of the hotel, so much so that the change from old to
new building is almost seamless.
The bedroom featured a very attractive bathroom with copy period fittings and copy
period furniture but all very comfortable with a lovely view over the Villa Sentosa and
river.
After a more than adequate breakfast the next morning (part served part buffet) we
took advantage of the excellent complimentary Historical Walk offered by the hotel
with Alvin. This was highly informative and really made Malacca come alive for us
and of course gave us our bearings for navigating our way around, most helpful.
On a very hot day it was lovely to return to the cool of The Majestic and have a
cool drink at the cocktail bar - all very cool and colonial.
The staff were really excellent all the more so when I discovered that quite a lot of
them were actually students from the local hospitality college who were working there
as part of the course for experience! Although I do feel that they required more guidance from the actual management of the hotel who seemed to be sadly absent.
Special commendation must be made for Alvin, Guba and Maxi, three young men
who I am sure will excell in their careers in the future.
All in all a really Majestic stay at a lovely quiet, peaceful and classy hotel with the
convenience of being only a ten minute walk from the centre of Mallaca.

Wonderful

I loved the old world colonial charm of this hotel. It’s in a good location beside the river and about a 15 minute walk from Dutch Square. The bar and restaurant are located in the original 1920’s mansion house and all guest rooms are in a modern annexe attached to the back of the house.

Service in the hotel was faultless and I thought the staff were absolutely wonderful and a credit to the company. I would not single out a particular member of staff as all were unfailingly polite, happy and wanted to make our stay as memorable as possible. It felt like everyone was interested in us and wanted to do anything they could to make it better. They succeeded - the whole team at the Majestic make our trip to Malacca unforgettable.

What a wonderful hotel!

The Majestic is an absolutely charming hotel and two nights was not enough - in fact, we felt like we never wanted to leave. From the warm greeting at reception our stay was perfect. The rooms are beautiful, the staff delightful, the pool and gym areas are great and the food delicious. The Majestic knows that it's the little details that make a stay special and they do this so well. Tea served in your room on arrival, small treats left in the room at night, a flower on the pillow at turn-down. The lovely receptionist even made sure we had water for our travels when we checked out. There is nowhere else I would stay in Melaka.

Go on! You know you want to!

That’s what I kept telling myself as I scrolled through hundreds of choices for hotels in Malacca. I am so glad that I chose the Majestic Malacca. It is beautiful, well organised, has lovely rooms with view and fabulous baths, a pool, a little air conditioned gym, and a gorgeous Spa.
I booked directly with the Hotel and received a complimentary massage at the Spa and a dinner for two. Both were absolutely lovely.
The River Cruise boats go past the hotel and it is an easy walk to Jonker Street and all the attractions ...about 10 minutes along a very well maintained river pathway.
Malacca is such a great place to visit for history and food. Friendly, welcoming locals. UNESCO world heritage listed. Malacca still has some ‘interesting’ smells out there along the streets and river in places. It was such a pleasure to return to Majestic and the wafting fragrances of freshness and special combinations of coolness and friendliness. Everything done as it should be. Full marks

More than great

A return visit after 2 years of not visiting Malacca. The staff remembered us and seemed genuinely happy to see us again. The room was lovely as last time, with enough space to move around. Bed & pillows are comfortable. Like that the shower has shower & shampoo in bottles that can be filled up rather than little bottles that are a waste of plastic. There is also a beautiful clawed foot bath - the last time the staff filled a rose petal bath for me as they heard it was our wedding anniversary. This time, they remembered my husband’s love for one of their cookies ( they have jars of nibbles around the lobby). Although they no longer have the cookies in their jars, the staff went out of their way to get some & surprised my husband with a box of it and a cute note.
The spa is wonderful - do not miss a session- the only place that has managed to get me to drift off during a massage!
The restaurant has a nice breakfast and so far, the best Eurasian Peranakan spread in Malacca - having tried others (in Jonkers, etc) for lunch & dinner.
The staff make the hotel what it is - a winner. Mr Raj at the carpark & also the door, is always full of smiles. Winnie, Ms Rahayu and Mr Leong at the front desk have been our constants. One of the main reasons we return to the Majestic is the staff, especially Mr Leong. He goes all out to help and make a visit memorable - polite, pleasant and happy to chat with guests so that they feel more like family - excellent.
