Borobudur holiday season
Reviewed 12 hours ago

we stayed 2 nights at this hotel. The road to the location is very narrow. Often vehicles encounter difficulties and guest vehicles have to budge with locals vehicles. This is the negative side of this hotel. Overall the service of the hotel staff is excellent with clean rooms and cool countryside views.

A great base to Borobudur

The hotel was beautiful and new. Staff were friendly and the food at Stupa was delicious, every single dish that we tried.

Beat of all, it is super close to Borobudur itself which is great for a sunrise or sunset outing. We went for a sunset viewing through Manorah and it was not too crowded and the light on Borobudur was lovely.

An Idyllic Oasis

Set in elegant colonial architecture amongst views of lush paddy fields, Plataran Heritage Hotel Borobudur is the sparkling new gem under the Plataran hospitality group's crown.

I stayed in the Deluxe Premier Room which was spacious with a double bed, ensuite bathroom with bathtub and full amenities, and balcony which overlooked the paddy fields which were a-twitter with bird song every morning.

Daily breakfast featured a rotational selection of Asian selections and Western classics (live egg station, cereal, sausages, viennoiserie) and was served at Menoreh Restaurant. Indoor seating is available, although I'd preferred outdoor seating with views of the pool and the hotel's 6 pet pigeons more ambient during my stay.

I'd had most of my meals at the hotel and particularly enjoyed the Yellow Udang Laksa and Soto Ayam Kampung at Stupa. Afternoon tea is served daily at the Menoreh Bar & Lounge located on level 6, which is perfect for watching the sun go down.

This was my first time to Borobudur; Ani, the Front Office and F&B teams have made me feel very welcome from the moment I'd arrived until my departure this morning.

I'd briefly dabbled in hospitality and have seen first hand the many ways a guest's stay can go awry. The team at Plataran Heritage is sincere and try their darnest to make sure that their guests leave with a fond experience. Despite only having opened for about a year, the hotel seems to run like a well-oiled machine.

As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and well taken care of. I can only hope that things continue looking up for the in future and look forward to returning. Thank you for a gorgeous stay.

They do try very hard to please

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days.

A very squeaky bed made it almost impossible to sleep .
We mentioned it after the first night and It was sorted out very quickly and with huge apologies by the management.

They offered to move us. It was not necessary after the bed was adjusted and we stayed on in the same room.

We received a call with an offer for a free dinner or massage at the spa in the hotel.

The spa was really good. We visited on the first day, the second day ( with the compliments of the hotel) . On the third day we went back once more. Very good massages! My husband had an excellent sports, deep tissue massage by a male therapist who is also a yoga instructor.

Food is not really to our liking. Once again the staff were all extremely attentive and eager to please. The food however is a drawback.

Cocktails in the bar on the rooftop also leave a lot to be desired for. Surprised that they ran out of chicken wings???? This was before the hotel got really busy.

Bar snacks not nice at all. Neither was the satay which is such a local dish and that one would expect to be good.

Staff all friendly and helpful, but the food is disappointing.

A great hotel to stay in Magelang

A spacious room with a nice bedding. The staffer are all great. The rooftop Patio lounge is a a nice place to hangout. The breakfast selection is just too standard, need to add more local content. They also need to involve local communities to offer the beauty of its surroundings. We walk to Barede hill, it’s a great place to watch the sunrise and the staffer didn’t mentioned this when we asked the day before; and Barede hill is just less than 30minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel only offered guided-tour to Punthuk Setumbu that is a bit farther and sooo expensive. For the famous name of “Plataran” they should be able to do more
