How to Get There
Good located on the river with nice quite large rooms. Rooms are very quiet. Breakfast has a wide variety of choices. Great Spa area, where you can enjoy life and relax after your business meetings. Some nice restaurants close by and a good connection with public transport.
Nice rooms, nice staff, good breakfast, Amazing spa with 3 heated pools with different temperatures, so great in all seasons. Also 3 saunas.
Not a central location but near train and bus station.
The only bad thing was the massage...
The Spa area is the USP of the hotel

Rooms have everything you need and staff is quite supportive especially (Hamed).
There is a tram and HeV station just 5 minutes walking from here so the navigation is quite easy to and from the place
We stayed here for a long weekend break for my wifes 40th Birthday. We had a very nice stay and thought the hotel was very nice, its not the most upto date hotel but its clean and tidy and the staff were all pleasant. The only issues we had were that sadly the jacuzzi was broken during our stay, however the thermal pools were good and our only other issue was that when we rang down for room service and the reception on the second night nobody answered, it wasn`t late and we rang a number of times, but gave up in the end.
Other than these minor issues we had a very good stay and would come back.
I dont understand how other reviewers are saying that the hotel is miles away from the city centre when its actually not that far at all and if you jump on the train which is 100 metres away from the hotel entrance you can be right in the city centre in 10-15 minutes.
Two stops down on the train there is a lovely restauraunt called hid which serves all different foods at very reasonable prices.
Budapest is a lovely city and well worth a visit and if your looking for a reasonably priced nice hotel then we would definitely recommend The Aquincum hotel.
I’m not one to write bad reviews on hotels however on this occasion I feel I have to.
Firstly when checking in the member of staff who was dealing with us showed absolutely no customer service whatsoever and basically stopped in mid conversation to deal with another query and then came back to us with no apology for the interruption.
We had a party of 11 staying so 6 rooms in total, all of which were paid for as superior rooms and at the same price however superior room is definitely not what we got. Some rooms were bigger and nicer than others even though we all paid the same. But we were all excited to be in a new city so decided to let it be.
Then we went to the spa area and on arrival I thought oh waow this is really nice so while sitting in one of the thermal pools I looked down into the water and there was all sorts floating in the water around us. Dead skin, dirt etc so that was then end of the spa.
It’s in a very quiet area and the hotels own taxi service is an absolute rip off when you can get a yellow taxi into the city centre for half the price.
The main problem however with this hotel is the staff and their actions.
I had the booking of the 6 rooms on my card and then also had to pay €540 deposit which is very steep in my opinion.
2 of the other rooms had treatments and a few items from their mini bar (which is very expensive) both rooms paid for their expenses separate from the overall booking. When checking out one couple were asked to pay an extra £45 for expenses which they could not tell them what they were for and then it was also noticed that they had been charged for 4 treatments instead of 2. After a very trying conversation they finally acknowledged their mistake and refunded the 2 extra treatments and removed the random £45 charge with no apology. But it didn’t end there. When asked for my card to finalise and pay the over all booking and get the deposit put back on my card I asked for a receipt as we were weary from friends already getting over charged and it turned out we were right to be!! There was 3 breakfast at a total price of £65.49 added onto our bill. When I questioned about this, the rude member of staff told me that one member of the group had said they had got the breakfast and to charge it to my card. Now if this had have been the case my friend would have told me this however I asked around the group and sure enough no one had. When we repeated again that no one had got these breakfasts the 2 staff basically accused us of lying instead of apologising when actual fact it was the member of staff telling the lies. After arguing with them for a good 5/10 minutes we finally got them to refund the amount back onto my card which thankfully I have received (still waiting on €540 deposit). While all of this was going on our transfers to the airport were sitting outside and thankfully they waited and got us to the airport on time. The staff showed no remorse whatsoever, they weren’t helpful in trying to get to the bottom of any issues they were rude and ignorant to say the least. They advertise themselves as a 5* hotel which is an absolute joke as I wouldn’t rate it even at 4*.
Budapest is a gorgeous city but our experience at this hotel totally ruined our time away and none of us would be on a hurry back. Absolutey appalling behaviour!!!
