How to Get There
We especially enjoyed our visit and stay at the Brookstown Inn. The staff was welcoming, the areas other than the room itself was comfortable to relax in and the room was special with the exposed brick walls. We enjoyed the afternoon wine and cheese. The cookies at night were a nice touch to the end of the day. We hope to get back to the area again and stay at the Brookstown!
This hotel was recommended by a server at a nearby popular farm to table restaurant. I told him I loved interesting older properties with a story and he hit the nail right on the head! The staff couldn’t be any nicer, or more helpful! There are great restaurants of all varieties within walking distance. Although between the free breakfast, wine and cheese early evening, and bedtime cookies and milk, you might not need much in the way of outside food! All of these treats are served in different, beautiful rooms of the old building, which feels like your grandparents home, Coffee and tea are also set out all day long! Old Salem is outside your backdoor and you can walk through the town and eat at their “old tavern” restaurant, or visit the bakery and gift shops! It is so reasonably priced, I almost felt I needed to pay extra! Lol! I truly cannot wait to come back!!!
Wish you had a better exercise room. The stepping or Precor machine was broken, makes a loud noise, still useable but ackward to use, easy to slip off left peddle.
The breakfast was fantastic.
Milk and cookies great.
Wine and cheese nice idea.
Rooms nice and clean.
When we arrived our room the temp was 60•(on a cold rainy night) we turned it up, went out for 2 hrs and it was still at 60• on return. Told the manager and he offered a space heater or another room. We took another room assuming the heat was out and I’ve never heard of a space heater in a hotel room. Our new room was nice. But the temp was 62 and there was a space heater in the room. We used blankets and the heater and it was ok.
If the front desk had explained the situation we would not have changed rooms , I get it, old bldg., we just thought the heat was out .
So the problem was that the young man was obviously unhappy with our decision to move and we could tell. I get it but he should have explained it or he should have been professional about it. He did give us a better room which was nice.
We are staying there this summer and now I’m worried about the AC.
Me and my wife stayed for the weekend, got the romantic getaway package and was very impressed with the amenities. The room blew me away and the staff was helpful and attentive to any and all needs. I will highly recommend to anyone from family to a couple getaway.
The Brookstown Inn was the ONLY good thing about our trip to Winston-Salem. DELIGHTFUL local place and wonderful staff and management. Walking distance from historic Salem sites. Parking on site is extremely helpful. Even though you are close to BBT field still leave early from here because the town & university cannot manage traffic.
