How to Get There
When you close your eyes and imagine a glamorous getaway in Sicily, Hotel Villa Carlotta is the very hotel that you dream of. Its intimate boutique size, personable staff, beautifully appointed rooms and excellent location make it the perfect place to stay in Taormina. There's even a swimming pool where you can relax on long, languorous summer days. We arrived in the evening after driving from Palermo, so it was wonderful when a staff member whisked away our keys and parked the car to save us the trouble. The interior design strikes the perfect balance between old-world charm and luxury. You can tell that the hotel is more than a business, it's a passion project for the owner Andrea and his wife, where every little detail is considered and each room is personalized. After check-in, we were escorted up to the terrace and served an aperitivo - a delicious selection of nibblies accompanied by a crisp glass of prosecco. What a delightful welcome in such a romantic setting. This hotel is a wonderful choice for couples. The room turned out to be so spacious, impeccably clean and the bed was really comfortable. So we woke up refreshed and ready to see the sights of Taormina. Hotel Villa Carlotta is ideally located, close to everything yet in a quiet setting away from the throng of tourists. It is within easy walking distance to incredible sights such as the Greek Theatre, as well as the main pedestrian street (Corso Umberto) - where you'll find all the restaurants, cafes and boutique shops. The hotel is also located 3 mins walk away from one of the best views of Isola Bella and the whimsical communal gardens. But before we headed out to explore on our first morning, we took the lift up to the glorious terrace. In the morning, we could see the view of the sparkling ocean and the sunlight streamed into the pastel green dining room (just wait until you see the stunning mirror work) where a generous buffet awaited. There was an array of fresh seasonal fruits, cereals, cheeses, pastries and hot foods. You can even find mini cannolo to sample. As we were in Sicily, how could we resist indulging in cannoli for breakfast? Next time we're in Taormina, we won't hesitate to book our stay at Hotel Villa Carlotta or we might even try the sister property, Hotel Villa Ducale.
We absolutely loved this Hotel. First, the staff goes above and beyond for its guests. For example, upon checking in we asked for directions to Hertz to drop off our rental car and they said don' worry about it and they took care of it for us, saving us time and the hassle. The hotel is beautiful. We stayed in the adjoining 2 bedroom apartment which was wonderful. The breakfast was great. At the end of each evening, we stopped by the bar and received top notch service from a warm and friendly bartender. Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. My wife and I recommend this hotel without reservation.
What a wonderful place to stay. Rooms incredibly comfortable. wonderful location and the staff are helpful, warm and professional. The restaurant has lovely views and delicious breakfast. Quiet but a quick walk to town. Can’t recommend enough.
