How to Get There
We were spending eight days on Grand Cayman; an airfare thing. We were spending seven nights at a timeshare in the quiet East End of the island. For our extra night - turned out it was our first night - we made a reservation at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.
Pulling our luggage from our rent a car across the parking lot, the bellman rushed out to greet us. Once inside we were greeted again by a member of the reception staff who walked with us to the registration desk. While we waited to check in, she brought us glasses of citrus flavored ice water.
Special thank you to Katie for making us feel so welcome!
We were early and our room was not ready. We were handed a cell phone and told they would call when the room was ready. They stored our luggage. Cell phone in hand we found the beach side restaurant for lunch. From our table we could see three cruise ships anchored in the harbor. Over the railing of the restaurant, sun bathers relaxed as the Caribbean lapped at their feet.
Once our room was ready, just as we were concluding lunch, we settled in quickly. We then set out to explore Seven Mile Beach. For those in good shape, Georgetown is a short walk. The road into town is lined with bars and restaurants.
The Resort publishes a weekly schedule of events. There was something for everyone. S’mores night was a lot of fun. The events staff was friendly and welcoming; a great job.
After our brief stay, we didn’t want to leave...but reluctantly we did.
On our next visit to the Cayman Islands we will be spending a full week at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.
The Grand Cayman Marriott is one of my favorite spots. This is our second trip to Cayman and staying at the Marriott. The hotel, staff, housekeepers, and seven mile beach are all fabulous. Evelyn b Lees, a housekeeper, always went above and beyond for my family. Unfortunately the beach is diminishing due to Mother Nature but it did not dampen our trip still plenty of beach to enjoy.
We just had our third visit to this resort in the last 11 years and the phenomenal service keeps us coming back. We've stayed at a number of resorts, but we love the laid-back vibe of the Beach House and the friendly and efficient service of the entire staff. The beach is narrow on this end of Seven Mile, but the staff and amenities more than make up for it. Where else can you snorkel straight out from the hotel beach to your own private reef?
The resort fee includes bikes, snorkel gear, paddle boards, kayaks, beach toys, snacks, towels and use of the fantastic floating lounges. The food and drinks at Vista are excellent, whether you eat on the beach or in the restaurant/bar and Michelle was the best server we've ever had anywhere.
Zap and Wayne kept the clean towels and beach chairs in order and Vincent was an excellent bartender each evening in the Anchor & Den. Karl and Chris greeted us at the door with a smile and great suggestions every time we came in or out, and we never had to wait in a cab.
After years of mixing it up and visiting different Islands we've decided there is no reason to stay anywhere else. We left the Cayman two days ago and the relaxing vibe has stayed with us, thanks to the great folks at the Marriott Beach House.
Neil is THE BEST beachside server! Not only does he remember everyone’s name, but nothing is too much to ask for. He always has a smile on his face, eager to please, and strives to deliver the best customer service while making our beach experience pleasant. He goes above and beyond!
This is our favorite Marriott property anywhere in the world. The location is perfect, top-notch staff with impeccable service, amazing food and drink options at two of the best hotel restaurants anywhere, the Anchor & Den inside the lobby and the Veranda by the pool and beach. Family friendly hotel with something for everyone.
The pool area is small, but perfectly adequate. The beach area is narrow due to some recent storms that cut the space. There are still three rows of beach chairs. The staff does a good job helping you secure chairs. They have added numerous floating beds, anchored just off shore and the snorkeling is great right off the beach.
The only criticism is that when things are particularly crowded, like our spring break week, you need to grab your chairs at the pool by 7am or you will be out of luck. You have until closer to 8:00am - 9:00am to get a beach spot. This is just a function of limited space at the beach and pool area and was not an issue for us during our stay.
Convenience of flights, ease of passing through the airport immigration process, proximity to the airport and full service offerings at the hotel make it an easy decision for a few nights or a full week. Grand Cayman has plenty to offer if you want to be out and about, but this hotel has everything you need and more if you just want to stay put.
Special thanks to Jesus at reception and Gede, Doreen and Camila at the Anchor & Den restaurant.
