How to Get There
this hotel is so beautiful! we stayed at the top floor with a view over the city and it was amazing! i loved it so much and i recommend paying a little bit more to get that view! the hotel is also so creative! i loved the breakfast with all kinds of food ( lots of yummy pastries ;) )
I highly reccomend staying here!
The basics are fine: the hotel is clean, staff is friendly, beds and bathrooms are fine and the view can't be beat (if you have a 'skyline view' room). The island on which the hotel sits is also nice, with an industrial chique and great water views, and easy access to public transport.
But there are a few drawbacks. There's loud music emanating from the hotel bar terrace on the 7th floor until midnight, on summer evenings at least, but also there's the fact that the air conditioning is mostly symbolic. My room got uncomfortably stuffy on a warm day (27 degrees outside) but the AC didn't seem to do much about it. I also learned the heated bathroom mirror is more like a shiny toaster, and it comes on when you turn on the lights.
Also bear in mind it is a design hotel. It's not about people, it's about looks. This means the furniture is uncomfortable (no back support, or a side table that is made of cast iron and barely moveable) and doors are hidden in a flush panel wall. You can see the marks people have left pounding the panel, trying to find the spot you need to push to open a drawer or a door. The TV is hidden behind a big mirror, so you'll need to draw the curtains to watch it, and forget about plugging in your laptop.
Also, you can't look anywhere without some sort of funny remark aimed at you: at the bottom of the trash can (which doesn't have a plastic liner - yuck), there's a piece of paper that says 'we won't tell', and your key card may read 'knock knock'. There are no hooks to hang your wet towel, although there's a weird red suction cup provided that just doesn't work. I ended up hanging my towel over a lamp.
Mini bar is very well stocked, but there's no space for your own stuff. Yeah, like I'm going to drink your 3.50 Coke each time I'm thirsty... And bike rentals are a great idea, but you can only take them out for a full day at 16 euro a pop. So I'm not using one of those just to go to a restaurant. Parking in the area is also expensive, expect to pay around 25 euro per day.
Each time you use the elevator you'll find a fellow guest wrestling with the convoluted key card system to get to his floor. Oh, and don't share this room with someone who isn't your lover, because those glass bathrooms don't afford much privacy.
In short: great view, but not a very comfortable stay.
It’s the first time we visited Rotterdam and the hotel. The hotel gave us a feeling of strong industrial design to the future. When we walked in to our room, we found the view so fantastic to oversee the Erasmus Bridge and the harbour. The room decor is simple, spacious and very comfortable especially the room price is charging at a very reasonable cost. Also, the breakfast is so good with lots of desserts, fresh fruit and drink offers. I love this hotel much and gave us a memorable stay in Rotterdam.
Contemporary hotel with a great view on Rotterdam, excellent breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms. The location allows to easily move around the city centre. I recommend this hotel and will come again when in Rotterdam.
Checked in staff Kelly, Steven and others are very friendly and helpful. Offered informations about Rotterdam when we told them it’s our first time in Rotterdam. They also offer juices shots at checked in.
Room is spotless clean. Funky and modern design with decent size with nice water view.
Hotel restaurant waitress was so friendly when we asked if we could have a look at the menu. It also has very Nice views.
Bar is next to restaurant offers amazing view. A bit bright to my taste but amazing view over looking the bridge and beautiful calm water view.
Overall, staffs attitudes are amazing even tough few are trainees. It makes customers have great experiences. Thus it deserves 5 stars from my travel experience!
Next morning: The breakfast is amazing!
From different types of fresh juice to cava! The breakfast room is massive. 2 coffee expression machines, really fresh bakeries, even has mini macaroons! But hot food only different types of eggs and bacon. I don’t like eggs or bacon but the delicious bakeries have satisfied me.
Breakfast room staffs so friendly and helpful especially Milo who gave me hot chocolate on request and Mr Freyaldenhoven (his 1st day working there) from Germany who is working hard to clear the table and so helpful. It’s faultless service on this hotel. Staffs seem happy and smiled at their customers. Very calm and happy breakfast environment
I strong recommend this hotel!
