How to Get There
We stayed at Hotel Eisenhut only for one night in December. We enjoyed our visit, staff were friendly, rooms were comfy and quite large by European standards. Hotel is old fashioned, and decor might not be for everyone, but we quite enjoy authentic type hotels in smaller villages.
Ideal location, close the main square with the Christmas markets and a great view from our room over the main street below. Town is really quiet at night, so no noise issues.
We had dinner in the restaurant, and that was enjoyable as well.
We spend Christmas at the hotel and found the staff to be kind, courteous, and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was amazing. Our room was dark and dated but comfortable. The hotel is centrally located with shops, Christmas Market, and restaurants.
I would have given a higher rating for the staff, everyone was lovely, helpful and rooms were spotless but......things are in need of a serious renovation.
Old beds, gold faucets ( not the nice kind) and things broken in the room.
Breakfast buffet sumptuous and top location make up for sleeping in an 1980’s room in a medieval town.
Loved the hotel from the get-go.
Right in the middle of the city centre, surrounded by cafes and shops - this location is just too good!
Check in was super smooth, we had help with our luggage, parking was available at a charge and we had help with that as well (valet), WiFi worked well, the bathroom was equipped with a bath-tub and shower gel.
Sleep quality was great ! The beds are adequately sized and the heating levels are good. The room was nicely decked out, takes a bit of roaming through hotel passageways (via elevators) to get to the building but it’s a nice walk through. Inspite of facing a main street we could not hear any voices/noises at night. There are restaurants on the premises and breakfast available as well but we did not use this option. There are enough places near the hotel to explore and experiment with.
Highly recommended. The hotel has incredible character and it’s a pity we stayed just one night !
Unfortunately some mixed feelings on Hotel Eisenhut, leading to the average rating. We stayed here over New Years for three days, which included the NYE dinner. The service from the staff was always 5 stars and the food was excellent. The room was quite old and very dated (not in a cute and cosy way), but was always clean.
What soured our stay and NYE celebrations was the other guests at this hotel. Most seemed to have complete disdain for us, seemingly because we were foreigners. Many would stare at us during our meals, and when we would smile back, they would roll their eyes and look away; all very odd behaviour. I understand that this has nothing to do with the hotel itself, but it does talk to the type of guests that the hotel attracts. When we ate out at other restaurants and bars in Rothenburg, we did not experience this same environment from those patrons. For this reason, I would not recommend staying at this hotel if you are a foreigner.
