How to Get There
Located in the city center of Rothenburg, surrounded by very cute houses. Though over 15 minutes walk from train station, view was great!
Breakfast is very delicious, especially the coffee! Many small hand made shops but we didn't have time to go around.
Suggested to reserve dinner otherwise it's too crowd to have one meal during dinner time.
All the rooms are different and rather quirky. Certainly nice enough, but tired; furniture well worn. No a/c. Great location in the center of this picture-perfect little town. Buffet lunch in the hotel was great.
Hotel Eisenhut is situated in the center of Old Rothenburg, around the corner to the town square and right next door to the Christmas Museum. It is a 12-15 min walk from the train station. The hotel is an old establishment. The inside is decorated with heavy dark wood panels and furniture. While the front hall feels a bit closed in and dark, the room is very spacious with high ceiling. We had a raised sitting area (a love seat and a sofa chair, plus a good size table) by the alcove window. The weather is hot and humid during our visit. The room don't have A/C, but is furnished with a fan. The window can be tilted inward from the top. so we were able to keep the room tolerably cool.
The room also has a lot of closet space, a large writing table and chair and a refrigerator (mini bar). The TV looks like a relatively new model and had both HDMI and USB ports (though I did not try to see if I can miracast from my computer). The bathroom is large (tub with shower - the first time on this trip we had a decent shower barrier that kept the floor dry) and plenty of surface area for our toiletries. Everything is clean and kept clean.
There is an extensive breakfast buffet. If you did not book your room at a rate that include breakfast (the better deal), you will have to pay €14/person for it. (I suspect you can get a decent continental breakfast for much less in bakeries near by.) There are more choices for everything here, though nothing special. The 2 things that are better here is fresh sliced watermelon, cantelope, pineapple in addition to apple, pear and banana and self service fresh squeezed oranges juice.
My one complaint is that while most of the staff are friendly and try hard to be helpful, one - a young woman in her late twenties or early thirties who appears to be the person in charge was very haughty. She was impatient, does not listen and inclined to give lecture like instructions. We are Asian Americans and I got the feeling she was looking down from her nose at us. We have traveled extensively in Europe. This is the first time I encountered this kind of attitude.
Stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is very old and beautifully preserved. The staff are attentive, friendly and offer a great service. The room we had was very spacious, with a good size bathroom. The room was well decorated, with a modern, well equipped bathroom. There are many areas to relax in, both inside and outside the hotel and its perfectly located in the centre of the town. Secure valet parking is also available at 12 euros/day .
Hot day & super humid....no A/C (understandable given the age of the building), but a fan would've been SO nice. Since it is an old hotel, don't expect top of the line furnishings and fixtures, but that is part of the charm. Everything was clean & tidy.
