Laid-back island living, bespoke experiences, and modern luxuries come together at the The Palms Turks and Caicos, an elegant British estate-inspired resort where iPod Minis and tropical sorbets await poolside, the sprawling suites start at 1,500 square feet, and a spa menu offers an East-meets-West experience. The resort’s five buildings, built from hand-cut coral stone, are set on 12 acres of manicured gardens at the edge of powder-soft Grace Bay Beach; inside, four-poster beds with hand-tufted mattresses, marble floors, vaulted ceilings and milled crown moldings lend suites an air of period elegance. Rooms also have open-concept dining areas and living spaces, plus gourmet kitchens in One-Bedroom Suites. If you’re not in the mood to cook, the resort can arrange for a private chef to whip up a little something—say, a trio of Quebec foie gras and fresh crab rolls—for an intimate gathering on the private terrace. The heart of the resort is the infinity pool, which serpentines around wooden decks, palm trees, sun pods, and sexy lounger beds covered in soft terry fabric and tangerine-colored cushions where, in the heat of the afternoon, a pool attendant distributes free fruit kabobs and chilled towels. Should you want a bite, swim up to Plunge bar. Save time for the spa, where exfoliating scrubs incorporate locally produced sea salt and crushed queen conch shells. After working up an appetite paddleboarding on Grace Bay Beach, hit Parallel23, where the culinary team prepares casual Caribbean specialties like corn and conch chowder.
In the Area
The Turks and Caicos islands are renowned for their world class diving. Don’t worry if you’re not PADI certified – Dive Provo can have you suited up after a one day Discovery Course. Adventure-seekers who prefer to stay on shore can explore the island via Vespa on a guided tour with Paradise Scooters. You’ll drive off the beaten path, stopping to see some TCI treasures including the world’s only Conch Farm, Emerald Cay, and Sapodilla Bay, with a stop for lunch at Da Conch Shack, a seaside spot full of island charm, complete with tables dug into the sand and a live calypso band. At sunset, head to beachfront pop-up bar and restaurant Stix for fantastic jerk roasted coconut corn on the cob and grilled coriander lionfish served shish kebab style – you guessed it – on sticks.
How to Get There
This was our second stay at The Palms for the wife and I and certainly won't be our last! We spent our 10 year anniversary here in 2015 and came back this time to celebrate a milestone birthday.
It goes without saying that the beach here is one of the most beautiful strips of powder white sand and turquoise waters that can be found on Earth. There are many incredible resorts in Grace Bay to choose from but NOTHING compares to The Palms! The resort itself is beautifully appointed and offers all the amenities one needs whether on a couples escape, family getaway, or corporate retreat. However, it is the staff and service here that separates The Palms from any other resort we've stayed at across the globe. We came back to this resort just as much to see our friends as we did for the gorgeous beach.
Every morning we love coming down to breakfast and being greeted by Mae and the staff. Her daughter, Reasa, and my boy Fitzroy made sure our day started perfectly and we had everything we needed for breakfast. Fresh fruit, breakfast meats, an omelette bar, pastries, juices.....it is all there and included in your room fee!
After breakfast, it is time to hit the beach or the pool if you prefer. Both are great but we don't understand why you'd come to a beach like Grace Bay and stay up at the pool. Emilio and Jeffer always greeted us with a smile and set up our chairs on the beach while making sure we always had cold fresh water to stay hydrated. With probably the BEST beach bar on earth just steps from your chairs or cabana, you'll need to mix in some H20 every now and then. Jefferson is the MAN at the bar and has become a great friend over the years. This year we also became friends with Janero and Carlton, whom went out of their way to make sure our drinks were always full and food made it out to the beach in a timely manner. Hanging on the beach and making new friends at the beach bar in between paddleboarding, snorkeling, sailing, and relaxing is one of the main reasons we love this place so much.
While you can order lunch to your spot on the sand, many days the wife and I enjoy heading up to the swim up bar in the pool for lunch. This year they had TVs setup so we could watch the World Cup while eating and drinking in the pool! So much fun! Stacey, Sharlane, and Danny were the best at juggling the pool bar madness and taking care of us. It can honestly take a little while to get your food at the pool bar when crowded but with a cold drink and great vibes, it isn't an issue in our opinion. This is an island vacation and you should slow your roll to flow with island time.
We could go on and on about how incredible the resort and Grace Bay are but seriously, the people and service here are TOP NOTCH! We witnessed a few bitter people that were rude to the staff and other guests around them and I'd guess those are the only type of people that could possibly ever say anything negative about the service or hotel. As a return guest of The Palms, we feel like family here and would never consider staying elsewhere in TCI. Thank you for another incredible week of memories and look forward to our next trip "home" to The Palms!
From the moment we stepped off the plane in TCI, I felt like we were in a little bit of heaven. The beach is exactly what pictures looks like, turquoise, calm and clear. The Palms Resort has the most amazing staff. We were greeted with a cool towel, welcome drink and a tour of the property. At the pool, the staff set-up your lounge chair, provide you with towels and water bottles. You can order drinks and food poolside. The beach is literally steps away, once again they wait on you. There are shops, 2 restaraunts & a little convenient store all on property. They offer a free breakfast in the mornings that is wonderful...coffee, fruit, eggs, cereal, pastries, bacon. Our room was clean and had a beautiful patio area. Every night, they fold down your bed, leave you chocolate, water and put your slippers out. We had the same housekeeper all week she was a jewel of a woman! My daughter got sick while we were there and the front desk staff, arranged a doctor appointment and cab. Every staff member we encountered was fun, happy & helpful. Stacy, Wes, Leslie & Shawn were some of our favorites!
The Spa was okay. I had a pedicure, for the price it was okay, just not impressive. Nothing in TCI is cheap, you pay for the service..not a complaining, just something to note. To us, this was a trip of a lifetime and the view, service, and whole experience was worth the expense. I do caution about the service charge on the tickets, I feel like I may have been overtipping, because I did not realize this was the tip (this is island wide, not just The Palms).
We recently stayed for a weeks vacation, and could not have had better service. The staff was so friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Miss Carol is THE BEST, her level of service is top notch, she always went out of her way to make sure we were having the best experience. She took time out of her busy day to talk w/ my children and even knew their names from day one.
The suite we stayed in was beautiful, spacious, and very well cleaned. The food was delicious, and Carlton down the beach bar was full of personality and provided great service there as well.
Thanks for a great week, we will definitely be back.
The Palms is a very nice hotel. The location is great and they have a wonderful restaurant so close to the beach with very good food and nice atmosphere. It Includes breakfast which was nice. The staff was friendly for the most part. The cabs to the main strip were ridiculously priced and they charge per person opposed to one set fee. Turks has the most beautiful water I have ever seen. I would recommend staying at The Palms.
We stayed for a week in a Junior Suite and loved it! The staff was so incredible, particular Emilienne, who took special care of us every morning and took the time to get to know my family. Also, Jefferson, at the beach bar, took time to always say hello and to know my son’s favorite drink! Lastly, the concierge always made sure to take care of us with tennis, etc. great people and an amazing property!
