How to Get There
Check in and Lobby staff are the best. Bellmen are awesome and always looking to please you. Villas are by far the best place to stay at Atlantis. They are clean and well stocked of your necessities. The Point Restaurant staff could care less if you eat or drink there. They get their gratuity and dont have to provide good service for it. The shuttle service wait times are lengthy. Good thing you are on Bahama time.
Lots of walking. Long lines at the water park. Especially on the days of 5 cruise ships docking. Overpriced food and drinks. Waited many years visit and I was disappointed. Service at the restaurants was poor.
We just returned from two weeks at Harborside with the family. It was our first time there so I had combed the reviews for information on wifi options but found very little. I hope this will help people who don't want to pay exorbitant wifi rates.
We decided before going to Nassau that we would get a Bahamas SIM card and hotspot the phone for others to use the data allowance. It has to be an unlocked phone to work.
When we arrived we used Sandra's taxi service which worked quite well. We asked for a grocery stop of 30 minutes and paid a little bit more for it. We stopped at the Super Value on Mackey street.
While there I walked about 300 feet further to the BTC store to get a SIM card and plan. If you don't already have a BTC SIM card then you have to buy one for about $22 which includes 2 GB of data. You can then add one of their combo plans for additional data/voice/texts. We did the $30 plan. Altogether we had 2GB + 15GB and 1000 voice minutes to Canada/U.S. When the 2GB has finished you just dial *203# to activate your credit for the 15GB. It couldn't have been simpler. We used about a GB per day between 4 people for usual stuff. Our iPhone limited three users at a time for hotspotting.
The other thing we were hoping for but didn't work was to stream downloaded Netflix movies to the TV. We even had a special cable to do this although we tried to use Airplay as well. The problem is Netflix doesn't seem to allow casting to another device like a TV or other iPhone or iPad.
On another note, quite a few people have complained about the slow response from staff to get things from housekeeping or maintenance. We had no problems at all with that. Staff were very responsive.
Staying at Harborside provides desirable benefits of a full kitchen, laundry and spacious comfortable accommodations. If only it didn’t take so long for the shuttles to come! When the highlight of your day is catching the shuttle with less than a ten minute wait, something is wrong. My husband is a golfer and it literally took 45 minutes and two different shuttles to get to the golf course if he was lucky and didn’t have to wait! Several days he spent an additional 30-45 minutes just waiting for the right shuttle to come. if you aren’t going to use the kitchen and if you do t need to do laundry..stay in the hotels!
Love Harborside. We like having the amenities from home such as kitchen and washer and dryer when traveling to the beach. You cannot beat the extra's here. Waterslides, pools, beach, multiple restaurants, shuttle service, aquariums and movie theater..
