How to Get There
We checked into the Loews Portofino Bay hotel late in the afternoon with 2 young children only to be told, our reservation was cancelled on the same day we confirmed it. What made the experience so bad was we were made feel that it was our problem and the hotel was not at fault in anyway. They could accommodate us, but at a much higher rate. After asking for the Manager on duty, we were still been told, the higher rate would apply. It was only after I was able to produce an confirmation email from the hotel after the so called Cancellation date, that he decided to reinstate the existing reservation and we were able to get into our room one hour later. We send an email to the Manager that evening highlighting our experience and we were also able to produce evidence that we ring the hotel to confirm and give a Credit Number for the 1st night deposit. We never even received an acknowledgement!! 3 days later when i got to check out (still no acknowledgement), the receptionist was the worst I have ever experienced. He never once looked up at me and talked the whole time while looking at this computer screen. It was the most discourteous experience I have ever had with a hotel receptionist. Nice hotel but the staff need to treat the customer much better and that comes from the Management who should at least acknowledge an email.
From check-in to check-out, everything about our experience at the Portofino was absolutely splendid. We requested an accommodation – a room as close as possible to the water taxi dock – because my wife has a mobility problem, and our wish was granted. So were other requests that proved beyond any doubt that every staff member had been exceptionally well trained in the practice of customer relations. Our guest room was spacious, immaculate, included many luxury amenities but, unfortunately, had a door that could open into an adjacent unit. When the occupants of that unit began generating a great deal of noise, the manager dealt with the matter swiftly and gracefully. We couldn’t have been happier unless we were actually staying in a top-tier hotel in Portofino Italy. Bravo shout-outs to everyone who helped to make our stay perfect.
Super clean hotel with very friendly staff. The boat to the parks makes it so easy to go back and forth. Express passes that come with staying here make it totally worth the price. The only negative I found was that it could be updated a little. The boats in the harbor had seen better days. Oh, and $24/day to park is a little excessive.
Stayed at Portofino in mid December 2018 for business meeting. Great venue and meeting space. Issues with audio/visual equipment was handled promptly and professionally. Catering for both breakfast and lunch was outstanding. Heard no complaints from participants. Hotel rooms, pool, spa, gym all great. Beds very comfortable. Bath products soap/shampoo were spa quality. Very clean.
This is kind of a home run hotel. Luxury, Quite, Romantic, 3 minutes by boat to Universal Studio, Close to everything. The daily rate in the high range but it is worth itExtremely helpful and nice staff
