How to Get There
We had a group of twelve golfers spread throughout three four bedroom villas. The villas have all been updated and were first class. Super convenient for playing the Grand Cypress golf courses. While we did not visit, the Orlando family parks are also within easy reach.
As someone who usually doesn’t go “high end”, I felt the resort was mixed but overall good.
The good: Beautiful Villas, All Golf on Premises with all tee times and golf bag shuffling handled flawlessly, the staff was friendly and accommodating, incredibly reasonable food prices.
The bad: Very expensive lodging, the golf courses were not overwhelmingly special particularly “the new course” and the good was relatively ordinary.
I’d consider going back but only if the price was around 20% less.
Everything seemed fine at first- check in and shown property, bell was extra nice to kids. Asked for a package (that I had delivered directly to the hotel) at check in- they said it had not yet been received but that they would be sure to get it to me. I verified the package listed the recipient as “GUEST....full name” which matched how I reserved. An hour later...nothing, so left for dinner and decided to pick it up after. Again, they guaranteed no receipt so I showed them the UPS proof...suddenly they said sure they know where it is...20 minutes max to deliver. An hour later, they said they were too busy doing other things and would get to it. I explained that I was now the only one up, had been up since 3am to catch an early flight and had an early start the next day. That conversation was as of now over an hour ago. I went back and re-read reviews. I can absolutely believe every word of them! There are just too many other things I’ve noticed since being here to believe that people would truly rate this place as “excellent” as they do (front desk rolling eyes while looking at me when dealing with an obviously frustrated customer on the phone.etc..). The only other two guests I’ve come across while at reception also seemed to have issues with no solution offered. When checking outside to try to meet whoever would deliver package, an employee was chased down by another guest apparently also having issues...And since then I’ve now been sitting by the door for two hours...I figured it was about time for me to make a TripAdvisor account to write a review that might help someone not make the same mistake I did in booking this hotel!!! Seems like they are purchasing a bulk of their excellent reviews if you ask me!!! If you don’t plan on doing anything at all that requires staff interaction...you may be okay (although apparently they overbook and bump late..even prepaid...arrivals based another review) so...why bother dealing with this hotel?!! Not an ideal way to start a family vacation...
FYI- waiting for 2 hours if you don’t count the 4 additional hours since I first made the request. Package is a camera lens..definitely something I’d like to be able to use!
We just got home from our 5th consecutive year on a group golf trip. Everything about it was excellent as always. The wait staff, golf staff, and everyone else goes out of their way to provide exceptional service. Our wait staff Moe, Celius, and Milagros treated us like family, and Jim our golf coordinator paid attention to every detail to make our golf experience perfect. Great courses, clean spacious rooms, abundant wildlife and an overall great experience. Wish my golf had been better but can't blame the resort for that!
We have been going to Grand Cypress for 5 years for a golf trip with typically about 20 guys. It's a beautiful location and you can't believe that you are that close to the Disney sprawl. The Golf Courses are pristine, the scenery unspoiled and I saw more species of birds than I saw on safari in Africa!
You know it's a well run place when you see the same welcoming staff every year. It's like you never left. Special call out to Jim Hagstrom who organizes the golf and the wonderful restaurant staff; Moe, Natalia, Celius and Milacros.
