How to Get There
This is our third stay at Villas Of Grand Cypress and I am sure we will return. The villas are great and it is the perfect place to relax after a Day in the parks. The views are gourgeous and the golf courses are great. The service and food of the hotel are also very good.
This is our second stay at the Villas of Grand Cypress. Our first stay was with another couple with whom we shared a two-bedroom villa in June of 2017. This time, we went alone for some "down time" before the rush that always kicks in in the last quarter of the year in our businesses.
We booked this stay through "iPrefer" and booked a "Club Suite"...a large 650 square foot room with a Kohler bathroom near their perfect salt water pool. I say perfect because, while the whole place was booked, there were never more than maybe a half dozen others at the pool! Insane! But...perfect.
As a member of iPrefer, you can request an upgrade if available. And we were upgraded for the last two nights to one of their top of the line Grand Suites which included a living room, dining room, full kitchen, a sitting area with desk in the bedroom and the same Kohler bathroom with a soaking tub and rain shower with jets and a TV in the mirror.
The bathroom also had a Japanese toilet seat...heated, jetted and with a fan! The kitchen had an espresso maker built into the wall. The whole house had a two level sound system with sub-woofer and a fireplace.
And all of the lights and window blinds were controlled by programmed wall units so that with the push of a button, you could totally control the environment.
Outside, there was a covered sitting area with a ceiling fan and an outdoor TV with table and chairs, plus a three burner grill. And the concrete deck extended out on to a large pond with a small fire pit and lounging chairs. The pond was stocked with fish and my wife fed the "critters" daily with loaves upon loaves of bread. And every sort of bird from egrets to blue herons flew about and walked the water to feed. So calming.
A bonus was that every night at 9:00P, you could watch the Disney World fireworks display in the distance from that deck.
There are so many things to mention about this property, it's impossible to name them all. There's a clubhouse with a great bar and a casual restaurant. When you check in, there's a self-service bar from which you can pour yourself drinks, beer, soft drinks and coffee to refresh yourself as you confirm your arrangements, And this is a gold resort, so there's 27 holes of golf and a driving range to play with. They have bikes to use to ride around the property and the park across the main road. The pool bar makes the best pina coladas. You even have privilege at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress just down the road with all of their bars, restaurants, pools, lake and facilities. You can buy tickets there for all of the major theme parks. They even have a shuttle that will take you to the parks and bring you back if you don't want to drive. And the Disney Springs area with all of it's restaurants, bars and shops is just 10 minutes away. I mean, the list goes on.
But the best aspect of this place is the staff. These folks make you feel at home from start to finish. And they've mastered the fine art of anticipating your wishes before you even know you have them, all without being obtrusive. Whoever hires and trains the staff knows what he/she is doing. And the fact that many of these folks have been at the property for multiple years..even decades...speaks volumes for the way they are treated by their employers. And that translates to happy people who treat their guests in the same manner.
We just got back from our 6 day/5 night stay and we booked a villa for next July when we'll take another group of grandkids to see Mickey.and Minnie. But we're really looking forward to another quick trip for just the two of us. It's a quick flight from O'Hare to Orlando. And it's the best form of therapy we know.
This is my groups sixth year at Grand Cypress and we just booked for next year. I have has anywhere from 32 to 20 golfers each year. The entire staff from the reservations, to the golf course staff and restaurant staff make you feel welcome and important. The pool bar staff make taking a swim a great time.
We had a group of sixteen golfers spread throughout various two and three bedroom villas. The villas have all been updated and were first class. Super convenient for playing the Grand Cypress golf courses. While we did not visit, the Orlando family parks are also within easy reach.
We stayed here while touring Disney from Saturday to Wednesday in late October. We were surprised to find our usual hotel was already booked up so had to try someplace new. I’m so glad we did - it was great!
We really felt spoiled. We enjoyed the pool on two afternoons with very few other people there, and all adults (with a couple babies) - no screaming kids. The room was very comfortable, and I honestly think the bed might have been the nicest I’ve ever slept in.
On our first morning, my partner had a little accident with a razor and I called the front desk for a band-aid, and they sent someone over right away with a first aid kit. All the employees we interacted with were extremely polite and seemed eager to do whatever they could for us.
Driving-wise, it was a few minutes farther from the parks than staying on-site but not a big deal at all. We called a Lyft one night and it was fine, just notified the front desk and also made sure the driver had our full name for the security booth.
I really hope to be able to return!
