How to Get There
I was going to hold my tongue about this place and give them the benefit of the doubt. Their crack front desk staff has wrecked that as of this morning, our last day here. I'll stick to the facts.
On check in we were put in a room in a tower above some sort of hotel infrastructure (HVAC? who knows), forcing us to pack up and move at 11 pm that night due to noise outside our window that would put the tarmac of a major airport to shame. They did move us to a quieter room, with only the noise of traffic outside. Good luck using the balcony in peace with that truck stop level of noise. At least we could sleep.
We thought there was a bright spot when we were given a late check out so that my husband could attend his conference meetings (part of being a conference destination, Marriott), but then weren't advised that we needed new keys issued. So, on our last day my key didn't work, and I had to walk the 1/4 mile down to the front desk where the clerk "Nerys" would not give me a key notwithstanding my presentation of my ID because my name wasn't the one on the reservation (husband has same last name -- what was the problem here?). So I have to call and pull my husband out of the meeting so he could come to the desk and get the keys re-issued. Clearly there was a process problem here.
In the fitness center, none of the media screens on the equipment are functional. In addition, their "running track" is nothing more than a chopped up series of paths (some paved, some not) going through or around various parking lots on which at times you will be competing with golf carts. Beep beep! How relaxing. Can't imagine anyone would use this "track" at night due to safety issues. The most enjoyable walking you will be doing at this place is from your room down to the lobby.
The ladies restroom next to the main restaurant had an out of order stall and water dripping down the wall with towels on the floor the entire time of our stay.
I could say more, but I'll end this with the obvious conclusion that we won't be back.
Check in was easy, room was ready when we arrived at 3p.m. Had a room overlooking the pool that had a nightly laser show at 9p.m. 2 beds very comfortable, very clean. Bathroom had 2 sinks that were separate from the shower which was very convenient. Plenty of towels. Pool area was spectacular. Shuttle to Disney (you have to make a reservation the night before) are convenient in the morning but be prepared to make stops at all the parks. Keep this in mind when you make your fast passes. Shuttles coming are less frequent. We made use of the Pantry restaurant - good food. Fritz ,one of the cooks, was great. The Christmas decorations were plentiful & beautiful.
Overall great experience.
The staff at this hotel are top notch, but the hotel itself is quite tired. We stayed here for four nights at the end of November for a conference and could not have asked for more pleasant or efficient staff (kudos to them, we were a huge group!!). The rooms themselves are tired and the bathrooms have an odd layout - the sink area has double sinks but one of them is blocked essentially by the end table they have to hold towels. The shower has a wide spray with little water in the center of the shower head, so rinsing off was a bit strange and awkward. It's also a very tiny space (shower/toilet area) with little room to move around and very little ventilation.
Check in was beyond rude and unprofessional. Challenges with reservation. COMPLETELY unhelpful- I don’t need a lecture on how credit cards work - I understand how they work.
NEVER ever stay here. Complete waste of money.
Nothing will be able to address the horrible start to this check in process.
I visited this property on business. I've stayed here before and was looking forward to it. Pluses: the valet and bell service is excellent as is the Spa and Front Desk. This Starbucks totally rocks with personable people and friendly service. The rooms are dated and need an overhaul. The service was a bit hit or miss in some of the restaurants. It is the first week of December and holiday decorations are up but when you walk through the cavernous lobby at night it is dark and depressing - unlike it's closest competitor the Gaylord which was filled with lights and ornaments.
