American Grill

I had the best shuttle driver KEVIN he was super informative and made the long ride home entertaining with his music. American Grill is what made my stay amazing. Besty made us feel welcomed and really personable, our waitress carrie was the sweetest and gave great food recommendations and when it came to our bartender Ryan served the best drinks!

The hotel was great. The conference center attached was absolutely FREEZING!!!! Weather outside was lovely, courtyard was lovely but to go in and out was CRAZY!!! I came back home sick with a cold virus and pretty sure it had something to do with the drastic temperature changes. I DID bring a sweater for indoors but WAAAY too drastic of change and unnecessary usage of air conditioning from my perspective! Wouldn't choose to go back for this reason.

Chose this hotel for its proximity to Universal Studios. Even looking at the map, it is very close to the park but still a good 5-10 minute walk. We were here shortly after hurricane Michael and it was incredibly humid.
I will say this was one of the quickest check-ins I have ever done. along with that they gave us 2 warm cookies which was great.
The standard room with 2 beds (comfortable, flat pillows) was very good sized and the TV was huge! literally.
We never got to use the pool because of time restrictions but this hotel is nicely laid out, large complex with alot of amenities.
I would easily stay here again if choosing to go back to Universal (one day was enough for me).
We reserved a car thru Avis and that was done very efficiently, I would recommend an early time slot, as we left at 9:30am and there was line forming.
Also, reserve your shuttle bus to Universal Studios as they hold true to name check off. Several people held up the line because they thought you could just hop on the bus. Sometimes I feel these hotels could do a better job of informing people of these things,
We also did not do the breakfast and walked to Mcdonalds down the road. I was surprised there wasn't alot of early morning food options outside of the hotel. Burger King was not open at 7am.

The staff here are cheerful and extremely helpful, but ye gods! once you're past the foyer, this place is _bland_!

Like so many of today's hotels, the rooms are design-y but featureless. A box to sleep in. End of story.

Beds are okay, although they fall victim to the current cost-saving practice of sheet-plus-duvet, which means you have the choice, while asleep, of freeze or fricassee.

I guess if you're looking for an anodyne place to decompress after a stimulating day at Universal Studios this might be just the thing. But for someone like ourselves who prefer character and charm in our overnight accommodations ... naah.

Fun in the sun!

Location is everything and this hotel has it. We looked at staying at an on-site hotel but glad we didn’t because this hotel is in a great location to the universal parks and city walk and it was a lot cheaper! Easy 10 minute walk or take the free shuttle. Spacious rooms and we even had a view of the parks including the Hogwarts castle. Also right by interstate that will take you to Disney parks only 15-20 minutes away. Only con is the parking is about $22 per day with tax.
