How to Get There
I've stayed at one other Disney property, The Wilderness Lodge, also in the luxury category. I loved the theming and property there, in comparison, the Yacht Club is much more understated, but also beautiful (we heard someone say it was like a nautical Grand Floridian). The pool at the Yacht Club, shared with the Beach Club, has a fun atmosphere and a great waterslide, probably a bit more exciting for kids. But the real standout was the service at the Yacht Club. All cast members that we encountered were knowledgable, attentive, helpful and prompt. We will especially remember being helped by Aimee, a manager who spent a good amount of time with our party. Even though I am one to try out different things, we'd be delighted to visit again!
Some of my party stayed here recently on a Disneyworld visit. My daughter was coordinating a conference here & I spent a lot of time walking around the hotel & grounds. To sum it up - the staff is great & very friendly, awesome hospitality suite, rooms are clean and spacious, grounds are lovely. Although it was a rainy 4 days, we had one day of sunshine & loved the pool area. Loved the bar out there, the ice cream parlor, the arcade (with massage chairs!). I didn't eat here so I can't comment on the food. But the food in the hospitality suite was amazing! I'd love to come back and just relax in the summer sun sometime.
We recently returned from our brief Disney stay at the Yacht Club. We opted for a deluxe resort because our stay was only a couple nights this time. We would normally stay at Port Orleans or similar. And I don’t foresee us being able to go back to POFQ after such a wonderful time at the yacht club!! From start to finish, we were absolutely spoiled. Inexplicably upgraded to the club level that was nothing short of amazing! Every, and I mean EVERY, staff member we encountered were so pleasant and helpful, they should really be proud of the work they do and the service they provide. I work in the service industry and they inspired me to be better!
The rooms were very spacious and the wood flooring and high beds were a nice touch! The bathroom had a sliding door to the room along with another sliding door separating the shower/toilet area from the main bathroom - which we really appreciated. The mattresses are pillow top, which are very welcomed after walking in the parks all day!
We enjoyed having access to the club level amenities. It came in handy as we were coming and going. Probably would’ve spent more time in the lounge had our stay been a little longer.
In short - we can’t wait to book our next trip!
Thanks Yacht Club!!
.....and much to my surprise I was impressed. When my husband told me we were signed up for a meeting on Disney property I wasn’t too excited. We are in our 40’s and 50’s with no kids so this wasn’t appealing.
The Disney Express transportation was seamless and handy. Not having to worry about luggage and it being delivered to our room was a bonus.
The hotel check in was seamless and quick as well. Jorge was super helpful as I mentioned we were Disney virgins and didn’t understand how everything worked. He even walked us to our convention registration.
The theme of the hotel is Yacht obviously, but it seemed slightly dated. Not worn, only dated. Everything was very clean!!
As I mentioned we have no children, but there was an area for children to watch cartoons while parents checked in. Nice touch.
Our room was handicapped accessible (which we don’t need) and it was very clean and functional. I would prefer to be asked if this type of room is ok, and while not our preference it was fine. The room had plenty of plug ins, and they were in well chosen spots. It is rare both sides of the bed have plug ins and this room did. There was a small nightlight in the bathroom, and the ironing board was an engineering genius the way it was incorporated. Bed comfy, temp control adequate, room clean and well appointed. Plenty of towels and a Keurig and fridge. The only complaint is the hallway noise. While I don’t have any plans to return to a Disney property this huge skeptic and anti-Disney woman was greatly impressed with the efficiency, cleanliness, friendliness and quality of our entire experience on Disney property. As a foodie I was also impressed with the offerings. See separate reviews.
As we have family in the area, we visit Disney at least twice a year. Regrettably, this resort was never really on our radar as we always (erroneously) assumed it catered to conventioneers due to the adjacent convention center and proximity to Swan and Dolphin. However, last summer, we booked a garden view room to extend our Disney stay after checking out from the Boulder Ridge Villas, and did something similar over the Christmas holiday when we booked a water view room prior to our transition to the Boardwalk Villas. This ‘Ritz Carlton service meets Disney hospitality’ environment at this resort was exemplified by every single cast member we interacted with. The Yacht Club has impressed my family on so many levels that, moving forward, the Yacht Club will be our ‘go to’ instead of our transition resort.
Where to start - on both occasions, our room was upgraded -- something in my 30+ years of visiting Disney has never happened at any other resort. But even without the upgrades, the service at this hotel surpassed the normally high Disney standards. Additionally, the renovated nautical themed rooms are gorgeous and enormous – in my opinion the best on Disney property, and far superior to the redesigned rooms of their Beach Club sister property. Speaking of the Beach Club, the Yacht Club shares its amenities with the Beach Club with access to the ‘best at Disney’ sand pool, fitness center and nighttime activities.
One of my regrets is not writing down the names of every exceptional cast member we interacted with because every single one of them deserves a shout-out, but there were truly so many. Front desk, club level, housekeeping, Ale & Compass lounge and restaurant, the Market, the Crew’s Cup Lounge, the Yachtsman Steakhouse, and bell staff were all remarkable. Speaking of the bell staff, when I shared my regret that I had far too long disregarded the resort as a business-centric, he told me that the hotel goes above and beyond to accommodate families to ensure their experience is more ‘resort vacation’ than ‘business hustle and bustle’. That attention to detail resonates loud and clear. Thank you Yacht Club staff, and we look forward to seeing you all again later this year!
