How to Get There
The resort is a very nice place as far as Theme and Location go. Fun environment. the closeness to Disney Springs should not be undervalued as the food, entertainment and shopping options are second to none. The layout of the resort is very nice with a fabulous gold course out your back door. Our only complaint is that the rooms need freshening up. The sofa was so old and uncomfortable we could not use it, fortunately we had a one bedroom so we were able to relax and watch TV in the separate room. I did struggle rating the resort because we had a fabulous time with fabulous staff. We had our food delivered through a grocery delivery service and that was a huge money saver and the resort makes it simple, storing your groceries including one that need refrigerating. If it was not for the furniture and the ancient safe we would rate this a 5 star.
We've made many trips to Walt Disney World (WDW) since our first vacation in 2011. Several years ago, we joined RCI to use our timeshare points to visit WDW. Saratoga Springs is almost always the only resort available, which is fine by us, because it has become our vacation home away from home.
At least twice a year, we make our way to Orlando, preferably in the winter and early spring. As northerners we like to get away to the warmth during the colder months. We also have a one bedroom unit, which can easily accommodate four adults. The unit has a full kitchen, living room, and dining area. We like to order groceries with Instacart and be able to cook our own breakfast, have snacks, and stock up on water. It is nice not to have to get up and walk over to the Carriage House's Artist Pallette for breakfast. However, they make an excellent lobster sandwich and have some great dessert options. Additional, if you are too pooped to head back to the parks for dinner, the Turf Club food is fantastic, albeit a little pricey, but I believe they do accept the dining plan.
Overall, our trips, including this past trip which was to attend a Disney Institute Summit, was as exceptional as all of our other trips. We enjoy the amenities at the resort, the friendly staff, and the easy access to the parks through the transportation system including the boat rides to Disney Springs.
While this isn't near the parks, it's only a 5-10 min walk to Disney Springs. Unlike Old Key West, there are elevators in each building, which makes it so much nicer. The rooms are a little older, but we liked them. This is one of our favorite DVC locations at WDW and we will be back!! It's usually open and the points are much less than most of the other resorts on property.
This was our third stay here at Saratoga Springs Resort (SSR) in the DVC villas. As I've said previously, we really, really enjoy SSR for many reasons. We trade in to RCI, and it seems it is the only resort we get, but we are happy with that. We, my husband, adult son and myself, enjoy it as it is a large property, has many different areas; pools; places to eat. It is not as Disney-themed as other resorts which is fine with us.
We do get a 1 - bedroom, again, all we can trade in for is a 1 bedroom, and as I've said in the past, sometimes, due to my son's height, etc. (he is 6'5" ) the pull out can be awkward but manageable. (I just learned I can rent an air mattress). We do put our request in for an upgrade, but that never seems possible.
The Artist's Palette and the Paddock Grille are my husband’s favorite places especially at the Paddock Grille for the burgers and homemade potato chips.
We got in late on a Saturday around 11-ish and Brett took us directly to our room. I requested a room near a bus pick up and early in the bus rotation which they did give us (I was very happy with that) as I have a pre-surgery knee injury and had a wheelchair and ECV. Our luggage came a few hours later, Brett told us if we do not put the safety lock on and do not put the do not disturb sign on the door, they will knock, wait and then put the luggage in the foyer without disturbing us which they did.
As always, our room had the H2O shampoo; conditioner; body wash and soap. These are some of the best hotel products I've ever had, they should sell them. Our Garden Grocer order was brought up by Brett.
I have one negative to say, however, I spoke with a manager Spencer, who was so willing to listen to me and hear my disappointment and that was in my opinion the room was a little worn and probably needed refurbishment. We were offered to move Sunday morning, however, we were on our way out for the U.K. Tea Tasting and as in Disney we had a full day planned. That comment is not a complaint, just an opinion, and I would still stay at SSR. That said it did not have any affect on our stay or the enjoyment of our vacation.
You can walk (depending on where you are and ability) to Disney Springs, which is one of the things we really enjoy or you can the boat which leaves you off near Jock Lindsay's Hangar Bar or take the bus. Very convenient. This property is the furthest away, in my opinion, to the Magic Kingdom.
Worth a stay!!!
Nice place very clean and great staff as always, it was nice for adults not so much for kids although the location to Disney Springs was excellent.. if you want a Disney hotel that's more for adults this is the one,,, if you have kids I would recommend one of the other properties.
