How to Get There
Just returned from 6 nights in Kidani village. As always, Disney delivers. Clean room, friendly staff, great amenities. We were on the first floor in room 7671- if you want to see giraffes, recommend staying on the even side numbers - but we had cattle, ostriches, and gazelles. So many great activities for kids - be sure to do the bead activities. Boma was delicious. Sanaa was great for QS breakfast. Make sure to walk down to Jambo house to check out what's going on there. We had great times at the pool - the water slide was a hit! Super friendly people making drinks at Maji pool bar.
We have stayed several times and stayed the night before our cruise with 5 adults. Love sitting on the porches and watching the animals. After so much noise and excitement at the parks, it is so relaxing to walk in to the lobby at Kidani and feel with peacefulness and quiet. Our favorite place.
Just got done staying at Kidani Village from 5/16/19 - 5/20/19. My fiance and I were using this trip as a "test" to make our final decision on whether or not to join Disney Vacation Club. We were about 90% sure about the purchase and were strongly considering this resort after a lot of research. Well our experience made it a very easy decision and it was a big NO.
I requested a room near the lobby when I initially booked through Disney directly, for various reasons. I was given a room near the end of the hotel, which has to be a quarter mile. I called guest services and requested a change. They got back to me a few moments later stating they could only move me about half way to the lobby. The woman sounded like I had annoyed her, so wanting to get my daughters first Disney trip moving along I accepted. I was told the room wasn't ready and that the bell service would be up in 15 minutes to take our bags until the other room was ready. After an hour, I packed up my family and all my luggage and carried it back down to the lobby ourselves. Spoke to the bellhop who claimed they never received a request to get my luggage. Later that day, after now being unable to meet my grandparents for lunch because of the resort's delays, I called the bell service when I got the text saying my room is ready. I called them FOUR times from two different numbers and got hung up on each time. When I got back to the hotel I had some words with them and finally got my bags to my room.
On our third day, housekeeping did not tend to my room. I called guest services and asked if they are supposed to (considering this is a "deluxe property") and was told yes and that they are sorry. This was well after 6pm, so we did not arrive prior to them cleaning.
We chose a Savanna room, which is a great idea, but not worth the cost. You can see the animals all over the hotel. Sanaa is an awesome eatery, Boma was really cool as well. The animals are really cool and kids will love them.
I feel my review downplays the negative experiences it caused, but it did make our decision easier. It was almost we were treated as second class, which we did not appreciate. Don't get me wrong there were some very helpful and nice employees there, but we will not be back to this resort and have decided against DVC.
We loved our studio at Kidani Village. The balcony overlooked the Savannah which was so peaceful. We have stayed at several Disney properties, and although this one is a little bit farther from the parks, we felt this property was quieter and more peaceful then others. I would definitely stay again and would recommend for couples or others looking for a bit more laid back experience.
I am a DVC member and was really looking forward to staying here. The resort is gorgeous. We had a one bedroom villa. It had a lot of room and I love the bathroom! The lobby was very pretty. There were 3 things that really disappointed me. First off we were supposed to have a Savannah View room. The room we got was not on the main savannah. Our view was of a fenced in area that had the same 10 animals on it the whole visit. Second the walk to get to our room was horrible. We had to walk down the equivalent of 8 hallways. The last thing you want after a long day at the parks is to have to walk 8 hallways back to your room. Third the buses to and from the parks are horrible. We waited at least 40 minutes for every bus minus the ones going to Animal Kingdom which came every 5 minutes. I have stayed at many resorts and never had such a bad experience with buses. It was so bad that we gave up on the buses and started getting a Lyft everywhere. If you are just planning on staying at your resort or just going to Animal Kingdom then this would be the perfect resort for you. Otherwise I would highly suggest staying at one of the other amazing resorts on property!!
