How to Get There
We returned to Kidani after a 7 year gap and pleased that we did!
We like the one bed rooms with the 2 bathrooms and the layout of the kitchen,
it was a nice surprize to see the upgrades to the room like a 60 inch television!
There is a new rule now that that can be very intrusive, is the housekeeping will come in every day to do a maintence check and will knock continually on the door even with the sign on the door until you let them in!
Parking was a problem as it was Spring break and especially if guests didn't go out and new guests were checking in! My Husband would drop me off at the elevator near our room and go and find a space usually quite away from our room!
It was clean in the room except for the oven racks they were covered in burnt soft grease! so we asked for new racks! very unhealthy to reheat burnt grease in the oven!
Next time we come over to stay we will try the new Riviera Resort!
So this resort is very nice and the reason we stayed here was because my daughter loves animals and what can be better than waking up to animals outside your bedroom balcony. We requested the sunset savanna because that is where the giraffes are and unfortunately they put us in pembe savanna which does not have any giraffes. They did accommodate us and move us after a night. The savanna view is very nice from the balcony and makes it worth staying here. The major issue we had is that the resort although all attached is very long and very big. I love walking but by the third day I was tired of walking around the resort to get to and from places. Thankfully we had a car so the walks for us, although long but not as long as the people using the disney transportation. There are like 5 or 6 elevators at this resort and being that everything is so spread out, you still have long walks from parking and taking the elevators. If you are at the far end of the resort you are at least a 5-10 minute walk to the lobby and 10-15 minute walk to the bus transportation. If you are by the busses you are around a 10 minute walk to the pool. There is only one restaurant at the resort and its Sanaa. The rest of the restaurants are at Jambo house which is a 15 minute walk from the lobby. I wish we had stayed at Jambo house because the resort is more contained and looks to be easier to get around. Jambo house also houses many restaurants, a large store and also has a more grand and nicer feel. Next time I believe we will stay at Jambo house. Still a great vacation but too much walking.
This is my third time staying at Animal Kingdom and it never disappoints. We upgraded ourselves on this visit to a one bedroom villa room at Kidani Village and it was worth it. The room is overly spacious with more amenities than needed and the views are amazing on the savannah. The decor is beautiful and the hospitality of the staff is gracious and amazing. The Sanaa restaurant was exquisite - the bread service is a must.
The only complaint I could muster is paying for self-parking while staying at any Disney hotel. Valet is understandable, but a parking lot should be a standard amenity. We stayed 7 nights and the total was around $200 - that could have been spent at a restaurant or souvenir or just saved. That amount of money can impact a vacation budget. Please reconsider self parking fees.
We loved this resort! We stayed at Kidani Village on DVC points in a 1 bedroom villa the first night, then transferred to a 2 bedroom villa the next 7 nights, then switched to a studio the last. Transferring rooms went smoothly. Bell services stored our belongings including perishables while we were out then when the rooms were ready, bell services brought everything up to the new rooms. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 5 kids ages 3,6,7,13 and 16 during most of the stay. The 2 bedroom villa was very spacious and never felt too cramped. The 3 full bathrooms were perfect. The 2 bedroom was huge! We went to both pools in Kidani Village and jambo house. Kidani was much smaller, intimate, and little kid friendly because of the splash zones and had a bigger slide and a little kid slide. Jambo had a larger pool, 1 smaller slide and not much shade. I preferred the Kidani pool because of our little little kids. The property was very detailed with African finishes, decoration, and art work. I really felt like I was in Africa and I loved the uniqueness. We saw many different African animals from our balcony. It seems they all rotated. Very peaceful and much loved. The kids were always excited when the animals game up close. The 1 and 2 bedroom unit had all the necessary kitchen amenities, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. The one item I wish they had were kitchen scissors. But otherwise it was a complete kitchen set including soap, wash rags, pots and coffee maker with coffee grinds. We went to Boma and loved the buffeet food. Mara was nice too for a casual quick setting. We ran into a very rude worker from Mara though that almost made my top blow off, but the Mara manager gave me a full refund on our order to rectify situation. We utilized the bus system that seemed efficient and reliable and didn’t need a car ever. I give this place all the stars it deserves because if it’s beautiful animals, uniqueness, great customer service, cleanliness and all the amenities. I hope to return one day.
We didn’t stay here but had a fabulous experience at the lounge , the restaurant Sanaa , and the “ back area” where the animals were grazing .
The security guard from Africa was Very informative and open about his homeland and culture. He also provided plenty of information about the animals!
His name was Hum( not sure) from South Africa.
The gentleman who waited on us in the bar was excellent and we learned a great deal about him and his culture also.
