How to Get There
We rented the 3 bedroom Savannah view. It was absolutely amazing. Loved being able to wake up in the morning and sit out to watch the animals. Beds were very comfortable, everything was clean, loved having the ability to live like we were at home instead of a hotel. The The staff was so nice and tried hard to help us in anyway. My ONLY complaint was we remember from our previous Disney trips having our bags delivered and waiting for us in the room when we dropped them before our room was ready. Here we had to call down and have them brought up, no big deal except it took an hour and we nearly missed our Boma dinner reservation. Everyone apologized and they even called the restaurant to explain the situation. We asked if they could just leave the bags in the room but I guess for safety they don't which I completely understand. So, the take away is, don't request your bags unless someone has an hour or so to spare to wait for your bags. The restaurant at Kadani was good and loved being able to grab breakfast to go in the morning. You can also get room service if you want. A few members of our family could not keep up with the kids so they stayed at the Villa a full day and said it was so nice just sitting on the patio, eating dinner at the restaurant, and walking around the lobby area. Has a small but nice gift shop as well. We really enjoyed our stay here. As always Disney does everything top notch and will do anything they can to make it right if it isn't.
Second trip back to this hotel. Love it! Clean and roomy. Asked for a quiet hotel and they delivered! The 1 Bedroom villa is gorgeous! We can’t say enough great things about this resort. From Disney texting me to tell me the room was ready to plenty of food option on campus to taking the free shuttle to the parks.
My only complaint is that now resorts are charging for parking. Rooms are pricey as they are—not happy about this.
So overall we had a great experience. Would have given 5 stars if it didn’t start out so disappointing. First of all the room was supposed to be ready by 4pm. It wasn’t. Then when we finally got in the Savannah View room all we could see was many large orange construction lifts. They were painting the balconies. I understand maintenance has to be done but when you pay the cash or points for a Savannah room, this is something you should be made aware of before you enter your room. Big ball drop on WDW and Kidani. WDW kind of runs their hotels and maintenance like that at times. No notification and sometimes they act like it’s not a big deal. I complained and to their credit they offered to have me move the next day (no rooms available that night ) and they gave me a credit for the inconvenience. Still not the way to start a trip. You couldn’t even be out on the balconies between 9a -5p because they were painting.
Now beyond that hiccup, this is a very cool resort. You see so many awesome animals all over. The pool at Kidani is great. Great dining options between Kidani and Jambo (really probably the best on site dining of any Disney Resort ). Lots of African cultural learning opportunities for adults and kids. Staff was very friendly. The only other knock on it for me is that it is a Deluxe Resort but there is only bus transportation to all 4 parks. I’ve stayed at 3 other Deluxe WDW resorts and they either had monorail , boat or walking to one or more parks. Even Old Key West and Saratoga Springs at least have easy access to Disney Springs. But don’t make that a reason to avoid this resort. It truly is amazing and you will want to leave time to actually be here and away from the parks for part of your trip.
We stayed with family in a two bedroom suit with animal view at Kidani Village. The suites are spacious, although sometimes it seems it’s not as well lit as I would prefer. However, this is a minor complaint because the view of giraffes, zebras and gazelles right from your balcony is breath-taking. There is animal viewing area in deck of main lobby of both Jamba house and kidani village, so even if you dont have room with view, you can grab a chair on the outer deck of lobby and animal watch.
The restaurants here are excellent as well. Kidani Village is a little quieter area than Jambo house (we’ve stayed at both) but Jambo house has two main restaurants, while Kidani has one. You cant go wrong staying here, however it can get pricey.
We are a family of 4 and we stayed for 2 weeks in a delux studio in kidani village. This was our 2nd stay we came 3 years ago and stayed in Jambo house. We were lucky enough last time to be upgraded to a savannah view room but this time no such luck. We had originally booked a pool view at Jambo house but due to the pool being closed we changed the booking to kidani and asked for a pool view, we got a car park view. Kidani is supposed to be more luxurious than Jambo house but we have to disagree. When we first entered our room no bed was made up for our girls and there was no linen. We were told there would be kitchen facilities all we had was a coffee maker and microwave, no plates, bowls, cutlery. The room was definitely not big enough for 2 adults and 2 teenage children, our daughters bed was a sofa bed and very uncomfortable. The girls are classed as adults in the cost of the holiday, dining plan and Disney park tickets but clearly not when it came down to our room. The pool was nice but definitely not big enough for all the guests from both kidani and jambo house, sun loungers were hard to come by and we were disappointed that the bar closed at 10pm yet the pool was open until 11pm (when you get back from the parks late and the kids want to go in the pool it would have been nice to have a drink.) Kidani village definitely needs to take some tips from Jambo house when it comes to service and luxury for that reason sadly we don’t think we would return. On a positive note though joe and the girls at the pool bar were brilliant and definitely gave the best service.
