How to Get There
I was disappointed in the quality of my room and was even more SHOCKED to discover that Marriott considers Autograph Collection hotels to be one step/grade below their Ritz Carlton brand.
Disappointed to be charged $15 to self park in a dark parking lot. Room was average in every way. Clearly this hotel was some other brand that Marriott took over - or I certainly hope so...but based on the quality and decor of the room there was absolutely nothing unique and there was no “wow factor. While the walls appeared to be freshly painted, the color choice was uninspiring and downright dark. And the drawers would not stay shut. They also looked a bit banged up.
The bathroom seems to have been refurbished/updated but there wasn’t a single amenity offered beyond the soap, shampoo and conditioner. Not a cotton ball or Qtip or makeup remover wipe - which I’ve found during stays at both Courtyards and Fairfield Inn.
I asked for a late check out (1 pm), which was granted and yet Housekeeping knocked on my door starting at 8 am, and continued to check 3 additional times
We visit this area frequently for swim meets and this is our first stay at the castle. We will definitely return. The location was perfect - across from the pool - easy to get there and back. We were also within walking distance of several restaurants and Walgreens for those few essentials you may need. I also like that you can enter the property onto Universal Blvd and not just the busy I-Drive. The decor in the lobby area is gorgeous. We like that you have to have a room key to use the elevator - love the added security. The pool area was very nice however the lounge chairs are very slippery and it’s difficult to sit comfortably. However we were able to secure the large sofa loungers and it was perfect. We are several times and everything was delicious and reasonably priced. All of the staff was amazing. Look forward to visiting again.
This was my first stay at the Castle Hotel and overall is was very good. I do want to preface with, if you are a Marriott Rewards Member and are expecting the same level of services and benefits, you may be a bit disappointed as there was no club level or private area for elite rewards members and no special check-in offers. But onto the review. The staff are very friendly and helpful (from start to finish) and the room was clean, a bit smaller than I would have expected but functional and friendly.
The beds are comfortable but their pillows are quite hard and there was not much in the way of options (for the pillows). The internet (which was included was good speed).
They have a decent work-out room with treadmills, ellipticals and weights. I did not eat or order any room service, so I cannot speak to that.
I will say that it is in a good place on International Drive with many restaurants and fun places right around it (within walking distance). Overall a nice hotel just not quite up to what I have come to expect from Marriott but no real complaints (other than that). I would stay here again.
This hotel always exceeds expectations in all arenas. Beautiful decor, pristine condition, incredible customer service & delicious eats!
It is perfectly located close to Restaurante’s & major attractions, but still feels very intimate.
Three of us were there for the Orgill Trade Show. Amazing stay, as it was in previous years. Clean rooms, good food, & friendly staff. Pool and bar area was also very clean.
Will be back next February.
