How to Get There
We are presently celebrating our 50th Anniversary with our family at Disney's Boulder Ridge Villas. Quick check in but disappointing, underwhelming reception. Standing in the lobby looking at the documents included with our stay. Had to visit the lobby desk several times for an explanation about how things worked. Seems like the staff needs some retraining. The two bedroom villa has a wonderful view of the lake. The main room of the villa is tiny and the kitchen miniscule. This area is not comfortable for a party of eight!! The queen bedroom's bathroom is huge. Why not reconfigure the main living space to enlarge it. The king bed mattress was lumpy. I told one of the reservation receptionists and she had our mattress changed out. The sofa bed mattress was not in good shape and they changed that as well. Only problem now is that we can't shut the sofa bed. Everything else has got $$$ on it!! I even got charged tax on a half gallon of milk. What's up with that? All in all the price we paid is insane $1,000.00 per night!! They also charge $24.00 a night per car to park during your stay. Beware of the shower floor, it is beyond slippery. Had to call to get a rubber mat. That should be in the bathroom and not need to be requested. All in all very disappointing. I will say that the transportation to the park was great and the pool was beautiful and warm.
This was my first time staying at a Disney property and it was everything I expected and more. Transportation from the airport and around the parks is very convenient from this hotel. We didn’t have to wait more than 15 minutes for a bus. We took the ferry once to Magic Kingdom and it was so fun! We didn’t take advantage of any of the resort amenities or pool since Disney World was our main priority. I would definitely stay here again.
Just returned from WDW with a 5 night stay in a studio at Boulder ridge villas aka(WLV).
Studio sleeps 5 with a pull down single under TV.
Queen Bed, pullout double sofa as well.
I am a DVC owner but have not reviewed since renovation. New Pool area amazing!!! Geyser Point bar and grill great new addition! The Bungalows really fit the theme of resort.
Why is Wilderness Lodge my favorite WDW resort.
True peace away from parks. Quieter, visually beautiful, and plenty of places to hide out from the crowds. 2 amazing pool areas.
New Snow White character meal at artist point. Whispering Canyon always fun!!! Roaring forks great food!!( quick service)
I love boat ride available to Magic kingdom, Contemporary ( access monorail)... Fort wilderness( Hoop de Doo, Trails end( best cheapest buffet on property) . Bus service everywhere else.
There is just something about the Wilderness Lodge that gives me peace. I think it will you as well:-)
This resort is top notch. The service at the front desk is fast and friendly. The pool is fun and inviting for the kids. Our room had a more than adequate kitchenette for the 5 days we were there. The mini fridge was big enough for our half gallon of milk, all our water bottles and some lunches and dinners for the week. The bathroom tub was great for baths at the end of the night for the kids. The queen bed was very comfy for the wife and me. The kids shared the sofa-sleeper and enjoyed having the space all to themselves. We had a plumbing issue that was our fault and the resort staff was swift to fix it and apologized to us, which was not necessary but a true sign of the customer service you will receive from the cast members at Boulder Ridge Villas. We will stay there again on our next trip to Disney for sure!
We rented DVC points which we found to be the most affordable option to stay onsite for our DisneyWorld trip. The Wilderness Lodge was our first choice and wow! Were we glad we got to stay in this beautiful resort! As described in countless other reviews, walking into that gorgeous lobby in the main building was pretty spectacular, regardless of how many pictures I had seen while doing my research.
Our arrival day was pretty cold (coming from Australia with an unusually hot autumn), and we enjoyed warming up in front of the open fires in the Boulder Ridge lobby until our breakfast reservation slot. We ate at the Whispering Canyon which was great fun! I unfortunately forgot the name of our waiter, but he had great energy and even got our teenage daughter to laugh and play along - not an easy task after a lengthy flight. A fun experience I would recommend, and the food was great too.
We had arrived early morning and our room was ready around lunchtime which was lovely. We had not put in any special room requests with the hope that this gave us a chance of getting a room that was ready earlier. We ended up with a room on the 4th floor with views over the forest. The room was clean, beds were comfortable and we found them to be very quiet which surprised us given how full the resort was. We had read that the Boulder Ridge standard studios are on the small side which was true, but since we were out and about for most of the day this did not impact on how much we enjoyed our stay.
We used both pools which were gorgeous, I could imagine staying here without even going into the parks! We spend most time away from the resort but enjoyed returning at night or in between park visits for a quick swim of to go for walks and explore the beautiful grounds.
Minor improvements maybe could be the transport - bus and boat transport worked well for us most days, but there were some hiccups one morning when no bus for Epcot turned up for a while and we ended up waiting for about 40 minutes. A bit annoying when you got 3 kids up and ready early enough to make it for rope drop to ride those rides we had not managed to get a Fastpass for. I also would love to see the boats to start a bit earlier - using the first boat and power walking into the park, we still were too late to see the Disney princesses officially opening the Magic Kingdom, which was a bit of a disappointment. Had I known, I would have ordered a Lyft. But other than that, we certainly appreciated being able to use free transport and not having to hire a car for the week.
We used the guest laundry and found that everything was in good working order and the washing machines were for free (you only had to buy the washing powder)! Nice touch and very handy when your chocolate monsters go through more clothes in a week than would fit in a normal suitcase.
It was lovely feeling so far away from everything at the end of a day in a busy park, and I would certainly recommend the Wilderness Lodge / Boulder Ridge Villas.
