How to Get There
I am Director of Quality for a Medical Device company . Have stayed at this Resort twice for 18 nights total. The staff is the best trained I have come in contact with - all warm , friendly, aim to please. The resort management ( especially Dale) incredibly helpful and attentive to our every need and question. The Resort itself, is a top notch all suite luxurious beachfront with top class facilities - incredible food and drink - couldn't be better. Last ,our beach bar - bartender Carmichael, is without a doubt great and makes incredible drinks and treats you like a best friend. We love him. If you go to Marco - STAY HERE!!!!
You feel special from the moment you step foot on the property. It may not be the biggest resort or offer the most amenities but the accommodations are very nice and the staff is superb. The suites complete with kitchenettes offer the option of keeping and preparing your leftovers from some of Marcos many restaurants. During our stay we noticed families with small children, but our room and our floor were always quiet, as well as the more public areas. The doormen and valet are a nice touch and were always helpful with a suggested activity or dining option. Very nice.
There are many positive and remarkable features MBO Resort offers/provides. First, their people are first class in just about every category. Friendly, knowledgeable, courteous and willing to name a few. Everyone we ran into went our of their way. The property is ideally located - the views, proximity to a superb beach, a great pool and setting, convenience to stores and restaurants, etc. The general layout is well devised if not as close to the water as some. What sold us short is the unit we stayed in and its lack of amenities. On the latter, the tap water is terrible and we were provided with two bottles of water upon arrival - after that they are $3/piece. The kitchen is sparsely appointed with few utilities. Also, there are no paper towels. Also, the carpets desperately need replacement (dirt stains in numerous places) - a property like this shouldn't be in this condition. Also, the bedroom view to the water is limited by a wall. It just seems aged and some minor updating is warranted. We'd still come back and thanks to a wonderful staff our stay was wonderful!
My husband and I had been to Marco Island previously, and this time we wanted to stay in one of the beautiful resorts on the beach. While deciding between the Marriott, Marco Beach Ocean Resort, and the newly renovated Hilton, it wasn't even a question. We have grown accustomed to having a suite when we travel, and the full kitchen and "apartment" style of the beach resort was exactly what we wanted.
We sprung for the Ocean view, because after much research and Instagram searching, it became clear how the hotel was laid out, and the difference in the garden views, ocean/gulf view, and the full gulf view.
And boy are we glad we spent the extra money. Mornings on the balcony, lunch on the balcony, happy hour on the balcony. It was just wonderful. And the room looked exactly like online (minus the flowers ha!)
The staff was so accommodating! I requested a blender in the room (after making sure that was an option of course) for my morning shakes - and while it was not there upon check in, they quickly brought it up.
We use the kitchen A LOT when we are traveling, and although we always tried to keep up with the dishes, if we had a few glasses in the sink, they were always washed by the housekeeping staff for us.
The pool bar/restaurant was priced as expected for a resort in southern FL, but Happy Hour was a great deal! The pool was under a bit of construction the very first day, but the hotel had reached out in advance and already applied a credit for the inconvenience.
It was out anniversary, and the first night we were delivered a bottle of champagne from the staff, with a cute card. And the smell!! The smell of the lobby is just to die for, I can not wait to go back!! So beachy!
I could just go on and on about the wonderful things, but to be a true honest review i will touch on the very, very minimal things that I think could be improved. We are not sure if it was just our room in particular, but the sliding glass door from the people above us, sounded like we were in the middle of a thunder storm. To the point it made me jump a couple times. And, to no fault of the hotel, the crew above us spent a couple nights going in and out, at ALL hours of the night. I am not one to get woken up from a sleep, but that's how loud the slider was. What we think happened, after discussions with the staff, was maybe some pebbles from the beach had gotten in the track causing the extra noise. Luckily the crew above us was only in town for the weekend wedding and then left, and the track was cleaned out nicely (or so we think because it got better) other than that we heard nothing from other rooms throughout our stay!
The reservation department is amazing, we just re booked today for May, and responses come immediately, and when my husband called to pay he actually spoke to the woman that I was emailing. It's so nice to not be routed to reservation lines or automated systems.
This coming trip will be only 5 nights, but when we were there for 10 nights in October, the staff begins to remember you and its just such a nice feel to the whole resort, everyone says hi to you, everyone was just so happy and I did not hear anything negative from anyone (except the sliding door, but we realized the people at the pool talking about it were the room next to ours! so same people above us)
We didn't go to the beach too much, but the beach butlers are amazing, you really feel like royalty here. We are counting down the days and will be checking the beach cam daily! Thank you to all the wonderful staff, see you soon!!
We had a lovely stay at the Marco Beach Hotel. The good news: The rooms are all suites - separate one bedrooms and living areas with kitchens, appointed beautifully, and with comfortable beds. The beach is gorgeous! White sand, beach drink/food service. The customer service from everyone was outstanding - front desk, servers, waiters at Sal e Pepe - really outstanding. The lobby is filled with the scent of pomegranate/sage candles - which is really quite lovely.
The bad news: The hotel is laid out strangely, pushed back from the beach and there are several buildings between the rooms and the beach so you may have a view of a building or weird garden. The pictures in their brochure and online are misleading and look like every room will have an ocean view. Request a high floor. You also have to walk thru a walkway in the underground garage to get to the beach and the pool is on the 2nd floor. It's just so weird! My husband and I surmised they built it as condos and then realized they needed to add a pool and restaurant so they plopped them in front of the lower floors views.
All that being said, we had a lovely time and would maybe stay here again, but would be sure to request a higher floor.
