How to Get There
Back to White Bay Villas this year. The units are in great shape and all appeared to be 100%. The views of White Bay are still fantastic & almost all businesses are back to normal. It was great to see Island Windjammer’s SV Mandalay sail into White Bay again. The path to the beach from the cottages was in rough shape but they are working on it. They were planting things everywhere, much needed after Irma. The best part of WBV is the staff, everyone does their best to make your visit special. Thanks to Michelle, Esso, Claudette, Maria & Blossom & the rest of the great crew.
4 female friends from college (now in our 50's) who travel every year or two decided on Jost Van Dyke and the White Bay Villas. Hands down, one of the best vacations we have had! Jost Van Dyke was a breath of fresh air and much needed sun! White Bay Villas were perfectly situated overlooking the bay (heads up... there will be some exercise involved to get down to and back up from the beach), they were well appointed and very clean. All of the staff, from the owner to the managers to the grounds keepers, were all very, very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed chatting with the women (Lisa, Michelle and Claudette) who came around every day to see how we were doing and if there was anything we needed. We would definitely stay here again if we are fortunate enough to return to JVD. 5 star recommendation!
First of all the owner and staff are awesome. They will do their best to accommodate your every need. But relax! You don’t need anything but the beautiful view. The villas are set on a hillside overlooking a quiet white sand beach on one of the more remote islands in the BVI. They are immaculately clean and very nicely furnished. Each villa has a well equipped kitchen but you can walk or drive to some decent restaurants. The walk from the beach to the upper villas can be strenuous, so bring some good hiking shoes (or drive up and down). We have been vacationing in the Virgin Islands since the 80’s. We come for the peace and the beauty and this is our favorite place to stay. All the villas have been renovated since the hurricane. I took the attached photo from the patio of our villa.
White Bay Villas is a must! My Wife and I just got back from a week in the BVI and stayed at White Bay Villas in the Seaside Cottages for four nights last week. It is very centrally located to both Great Bay and White Bay. The cottages are a fairly easy hike down to the beach and all of the great bars and an easy taxi ride to town for Corsair's, Ali Baba's, A&B's and Foxy's.
The cottages have everything that you need, we made breakfast most mornings. The most memorable part of the experience (outside of the absolutely amazing view) is the staff. Maria and Michelle were the best and extremely responsive to requests and questions. I won't say that I may have had a car rental issue on night with a car with a wheel off of the ground on the side of a mountain:)...(BTW, you do not need to rent a car, taxis are cheap) and they were there quickly to help. The owner was also on the property and super friendly and informative. You will not want for anything with this staff. Lastly Bonnie Martin who handles the booking, has the patience of Job as we had to reschedule several times and she was quite accommodating.
Also make friends with Captain KC early, ferry captain by day, taxi driver and historian on his off times. Highly recommended.
We just returned from a week at White Bay Villas on Jost Van Dyke and are already talking about going back next year. We'd been to JVD on day-trips out of St. John but had never stayed on the island. White Bay Villas had wonderful reviews, so we decided to try them out. We stayed in Coconut, one of the hillside villas which is essentially at the top of the hill. Bonnie was a great help in quickly replying to our many questions posed in advance of travel and Maria was a wonderful on-site resource. The unit we had was well laid out, clean and had everything we needed. We went into one of the new Paradise Villas and it was the exact same layout and really didn't look any different. We'd ordered provisions from Bobby's in Tortula and, on the day we arrived, everything was delivered to our villa, unpacked and put away. We didn't have to do anything. This was great as it allowed us to eat breakfast, some lunches and two dinners in our villa. The view overlooking White Bay is the best we've ever had and the beach is perfect. We got lounge chairs in front of Hendo's most days but spent one day on the quieter end of the beach on White Bay Villa's lounge chairs. Snorkeling was good at both ends of the beach. Not too much coral but lots of beautiful fish. The beach was moderately busy, especially on the 2 days when smaller cruise ships were in, but we always got chairs and enjoyed reading and people watching. I was able to go jogging in the morning on a loop that included the road, beach and path up to the villas. Besided two dinners in our villa, we were twice at Foxy's, twice at Corsairs and once at Hendo's. Hendo's was our usual spot for lunch. The food was great at each of these places. The Friday (and Sat) night BBQ at Fozy's was wonderful. Hedno's (open on Thurs, Fri and Sat nights for dinner) did big business with their Thursday night sushi. We rented a Suzuki SUV from Paradise Rentals and used it to go to/from the beach, to/from town for dinner and once to drive to the far end of the island. While we will get an SUV again, some people chose to take taxis which generally seemed available. We went to the bubbly pool at the far end of the island and it was not worth the time. Perhaps if you hit it at high tide and with waves from the right direction you might experience bubbles. All we saw was a little pool of water less than a foot deep. On three mornings a herd of 50 or so goats came by to nibble on the foilage. They were entertaining to watch. In summary, not a place to go if you want wild night life. But, if you want to relax at a wonderful place with a beautiful view and amazing beach, then Jost Van Dyke and White Bay Villas is for you.
