The Best View in JVD

White Bay Villas is a must! My Wife and I just got back from a week in the BVI and stayed at White Bay Villas in the Seaside Cottages for four nights last week. It is very centrally located to both Great Bay and White Bay. The cottages are a fairly easy hike down to the beach and all of the great bars and an easy taxi ride to town for Corsair's, Ali Baba's, A&B's and Foxy's.

The cottages have everything that you need, we made breakfast most mornings. The most memorable part of the experience (outside of the absolutely amazing view) is the staff. Maria and Michelle were the best and extremely responsive to requests and questions. I won't say that I may have had a car rental issue on night with a car with a wheel off of the ground on the side of a mountain:)...(BTW, you do not need to rent a car, taxis are cheap) and they were there quickly to help. The owner was also on the property and super friendly and informative. You will not want for anything with this staff. Lastly Bonnie Martin who handles the booking, has the patience of Job as we had to reschedule several times and she was quite accommodating.

Also make friends with Captain KC early, ferry captain by day, taxi driver and historian on his off times. Highly recommended.

Amazing view, gorgeous beach, wonderful place to stay

We just returned from a week at White Bay Villas on Jost Van Dyke and are already talking about going back next year. We'd been to JVD on day-trips out of St. John but had never stayed on the island. White Bay Villas had wonderful reviews, so we decided to try them out. We stayed in Coconut, one of the hillside villas which is essentially at the top of the hill. Bonnie was a great help in quickly replying to our many questions posed in advance of travel and Maria was a wonderful on-site resource. The unit we had was well laid out, clean and had everything we needed. We went into one of the new Paradise Villas and it was the exact same layout and really didn't look any different. We'd ordered provisions from Bobby's in Tortula and, on the day we arrived, everything was delivered to our villa, unpacked and put away. We didn't have to do anything. This was great as it allowed us to eat breakfast, some lunches and two dinners in our villa. The view overlooking White Bay is the best we've ever had and the beach is perfect. We got lounge chairs in front of Hendo's most days but spent one day on the quieter end of the beach on White Bay Villa's lounge chairs. Snorkeling was good at both ends of the beach. Not too much coral but lots of beautiful fish. The beach was moderately busy, especially on the 2 days when smaller cruise ships were in, but we always got chairs and enjoyed reading and people watching. I was able to go jogging in the morning on a loop that included the road, beach and path up to the villas. Besided two dinners in our villa, we were twice at Foxy's, twice at Corsairs and once at Hendo's. Hendo's was our usual spot for lunch. The food was great at each of these places. The Friday (and Sat) night BBQ at Fozy's was wonderful. Hedno's (open on Thurs, Fri and Sat nights for dinner) did big business with their Thursday night sushi. We rented a Suzuki SUV from Paradise Rentals and used it to go to/from the beach, to/from town for dinner and once to drive to the far end of the island. While we will get an SUV again, some people chose to take taxis which generally seemed available. We went to the bubbly pool at the far end of the island and it was not worth the time. Perhaps if you hit it at high tide and with waves from the right direction you might experience bubbles. All we saw was a little pool of water less than a foot deep. On three mornings a herd of 50 or so goats came by to nibble on the foilage. They were entertaining to watch. In summary, not a place to go if you want wild night life. But, if you want to relax at a wonderful place with a beautiful view and amazing beach, then Jost Van Dyke and White Bay Villas is for you.

Amazing Views

Well it has been a week since we have returned from a wonderful 7 day stay in JVD at White Bay Villas. We stayed in Dreamaway on of the 4 Hillside Villas. The view from the deck overlooking White Bay was out of a picture book.

The villa itself was unbelievable nice. Very clean and well appointed with kitchen utensils, pots and pans and all manor of towels and paper products, which is something you do not always find in lodging in Villas and Condos.

I cannot say enough about the ease of making the arrangements. Bonnie, stateside took care of arranging our transportation from St. Thomas to JVD and it went off flawlessly. Erika was at the airport to meet us quickly got us to Red Hook to meet up with Captain Jesse for the very pleasant boat ride to JVD. He even took some extra time to show us some of the JVD shoreline prior to docking and clearing us through customs. A most pleasant surprise was the cold beer he had waiting for the ride over to JVD.

We picked up our rental jeep from Paradise Rentals. It was waiting for us at the dock. Again, the process was easy peasy as they followed us to the Villa to complete the paperwork.

Maria, had us check into our home in no time and made sure all was in order. I really like the fact they stop by every day to see if we needed anything replenished but otherwise you would never know they were around.

The grounds are really beautiful with newly planted flowers and trees to replace those the hurricanes removed. The owner Mr. Klein was busy as he has been for the last several months in rebuilding units and adding new units to this wonderful complex. It was really nice he took the time to stop by and say hello and accommodated my multiple questions about the construction and island life.

I was able to introduce my grandson to scuba via JVD Dive Shop. Colin and his crew were wonderful. They were so good, the grandson decided to get his certification and JVD Diving was able to accommodate some of the skills that he will need for completion of the course. We had work to get a local fishing guide to take us out one day but were never able to connect. Colin (JVD Diving) was kind enough to rent us his personal boat, a captain (Paul) and a local fisherman. We landed a tuna, mahi mahi along with a barracuda and king fish. Ala Babba's cooked the tuna along with the sides. We had mahi mahi for breakfast lunch and dinner. Nothing better than fresh fish.

All of the above and we still managed to get in some really quality beach time on White Bay. Relaxing and eating our way through the vacation really enjoyable and one of the most stress vaca's ever. I hardly looked at office email and only checked in once for a conference call, which is really good for me.

I would highly recommend White Bay Villas as a place to stay when visiting JVD. Clean, comfortable and most of all easy and stress free living.

Almost like paradise

Fabulous place to stay on JVD

We started our vacation on St. John and spent the last 2 days on JVD at WBV. Great choice! We shared the Banana villa with our friends. There are 2 levels. The main level has 1 BR with a bath, and then a common area kitchen & living area. The lower level was our BR with a bath. Most of the villa had been renovated due to the hurricanes and were beautiful! Very nice shower, doors leading into the room and the bed was very comfortable! And the a/c was SO quiet and worked very well. Both rooms had seating on the patios and we overlooked White Bay where we saw a couple amazing sunsets! We met the owner, John Klein, & had a lovely conversation about the property and he was very proud of the quiet a/c units and how well they worked. There was a path right down to the beach, that we took over to Soggy Dollar and Hendo’s on Friday. We spent the day on the beach and then walked back UP the path at the end of the day. The only thing I would suggest is to bring bug spray so they don’t carry you away. Other than that, our stay at WBV was wonderful except that it was too short. I should mention that Bonnie was very helpful with our reservations and Maria answered some of my questions ahead of our arrival about a ferry ride v. Foxy’s Water Taxi. And about that, Foxy’s Water Taxi ALL DAY LONG!! Captain Dave was awesome & full of insider tidbits. I would absolutely recommend WBV & will be staying there again!
