How to Get There
When we arrived we found our room and the ground level. I requested a room above the ground level and Adrian, at the front desk, cheerfully checked and found us a room on the 3rd floor! She was an absolute delight to work with the next two weeks and did everything she could to accommodate our needs and requests. Thanks so much!
This was our second visit to this property and everything I said about it last year was as good or better this year. They have an outstanding staff. I must mention a few of the standouts: Lucero, hostess in the Seafood restaurant as well other locations, You're fantastic and made our stay very special. Jack Ramos at the Buffet made our mornings and lunch very enjoyable.Rubisela "Ruby" Diaz at the Dona Rosa restaurant made our two weeks fun and Lynn enjoyed learning Spanish from you. Food at every restaurant was very good.
The maid service (room 337) was outstanding the whole time we were there and we literally could not think of ANY staff we met that were not friendly!
This property employs an eco-friendly version of pest control and it works! No pesky grackles and seagulls chasing your food and pooing on your chairs! The Falconer and his hawks do an outstanding job and it is nice to see the hawk in flight. Just the hawks presence is enough to keep the pests at bay.
The restaurant booking method is annoying but not a deal breaker. Our ONLY other complaint about this property is that they still charge for Wifi! It is 2018 and even the bars in town have free Wifi. Please - Barcelo management, rethink this policy.
We traveled with 4 other couples to the Barcelo. The hotel was smaller, which was exactly what we wanted. All the folks were friendly. The food was outstanding. A special thank you to Damaris Cruz, Luis Orozco and Siricico Mtz for all their help. We had a great time! A couple of drawbacks - had difficulty booking dinners for the 10 of us and the cost of wifi. The positives far out weight the neg.
We were very surprised to find that the money we paid for the premier level did not include a queen-size bed, but rather a double bed. Most of the standards set within the premier level are expectations we would have for discount hotels in most of Canada. It was very uncomfortable and I would not recommend staying there without a queen-size bed. The upgrade to a queen size bed was over $1,000 US currency for the week. Our fault for not paying more attention to it, but I never would had dreamt there would have been a double bed in a room advertised as Premier. Very disappointing.
Really enjoyed our stay. we had a premium ocean front room that was very nice. The staff was very friendly. The beach location was excellent. Food and adult beverages were above average. Specialty restaurants were excellent. We will return.
We enjoyed a pre-christmas warm up at Barcelo Huatulco and can't wait to go back. The beach was beautiful, room was comfortable, food so-so, but what made the trip was the excellent service by Saul Zurich at the pool bar, Mario the lifeguard and Arturo at the dinner buffet. They always greeted us with a smile and kind words making us feel very welcome.
