How to Get There
This was our 10th trip to Gallows Point and the beautiful island of St John. We stayed in 11-B, our favorite unit, it's a lower level bay-side location. All the staff are willing and able to please. The grounds are 95% back to the pre-hurricane condition. The pool (recently re-constructed), the beach, the snorkeling are all excellent. The only drawback is that the bands at the Beach Bar can be quite loud on weekends, but there's nothing that can be done about that.
My husband and I along with another couple visited St John in October 2018. We stayed the week at Gallows Point and we couldn't have asked for a better place. The location is perfect, walking distance to downtown. Also, the staff was wonderful and very friendly!!! Thanks to Gideon for picking me up several times while walking back from town. The pool is awesome and the restaurant, Ocean 362 was delicious and a great spot to watch the sunset. The grounds are beautiful and lush. Will definitely stay at Gallows again.
We had a great stay at Gallows Point between Christmas 2018 and the New Year. Our harbor view lower unit was absolutely beautiful, great furniture in unit, spotless well-equipped kitchen (we only ate breakfast in it), lovely little private stone terrace with an enchanting view of Cruz bay harbor. The bedroom /bathroom were comfortable and well appointed.
Staff was exceptional. The grounds and pool area had incredible views. The resort's ocean access with raft to swim to and great snorkeling over colorful coral reefs just off shore was magical. We saw a large octopus on the reefs by the point, as well as all sorts of colorful fish and pair of rays one morning. Snorkeling and swimming everywhere on the island is a delight, but it was such a pleasure to swim over the same reef every day and see who was in the neighborhood. Hiking trails were in good shape. The island seems close to being back on its feet on the Cruz Bay side, lots of good restaurants open serving very good meals (expensive of course). Food Gallow's restaurant Ocean 362 was great. Go to the upstairs bar for amazing sunset views. You can still see evidence of the hurricane damage in town, and around some beaches, plus the tornados that came next, esp around Maho Beach. Which is where we saw five turtles one day, all sizes from a little cutie about a foot long to an enormous giant carrying 4 remoras. St Johns is a fabulously beautiful place and there is no better place to stay than Gallows. We were so glad to visit again. We will be back!
Return visit to Gallows Point. Great stay. Resort is fully back. Property / room / staff all were great. Cruz Bay is not yet 100% -- but what was open made for a great visit. we stay again when back in St. John.
We have been coming to Gallows Point for New Year’s for the past several years and it’s always such a wonderful experience. Their rebuild after the hurricane is gorgeous and we love the new pool!
The snorkeling right in front of the pool is incredible. We usually see a turtle or a nurse shark whenever we visit plus plenty of small fish.
