How to Get There
this is the perfect location, wonderful views and close to the ferry. We did have a nice stay but overall felt it was overpriced in consideration of the average level of service and how old the buildings and furniture actually are
Gallows Point is a phenomenal place to stay! The views are incredible, both on the Ocean and Bay views. The pool and surrounding landscape is amazing, including at night, with track lighting surrounding the railings. You can enjoy hammocks, leisure chairs with and without shade cover, and access to some of the best snorkeling on island! The residences are all kept very clean and tidy, and the housekeeping staff immediately attends to any needs you may have. The onsite gift shop has virtually everything one would need, from clothes, memorabilia, food, drinks, and more. The staff is always incredible and attentive, offering to make reservations at local restaurants so you don't have to interrupt your leisure time. In particular, Gideon was amazing with picking us up at the dock of the Ferry, getting our bags down to our room by the time we were checked in. Max was helpful throughout the week, offering to help unload cars, and checking on people throughout the day. The security staff was incredibly thorough, always knowing who should be on the property and where..thanks Mano and Travis! Finally, Claudia was the best!! She attended to any need quickly, made reservations to hard to get into restuarants with no problem, was very courteous and knowledgeable about the whole island, and definitely made us feel at home. Thanks to everyone!
Gallows Point is a beautiful resort with a beautiful location on the point of Cruz Bay. The grounds are meticulously kept and you can't beat the gorgeous view, pool or snorkeling right off the dock. However, there are a few negatives. First, if you book a Harbor View villa, you will hear the music from The Beach Bar many nights of your stay. It went on four of the seven nights of our stay and was so loud it sounded as if the band was playing in our room. The first night they played til 2 am, second night til midnight and the other two nights til about 9 pm. This really took away from the peaceful stay we were hoping for. The only other complaint I have was the cleaning. We arrived and the fridge was dirty on the outside as was the dishwasher. The cabinets were pretty dirty on the outside as well. For what you pay here, I expected more.
Beautiful resort. Rooms are very nice and large. We stayed in an upstairs loft with a full kitchen. The rooms are upscale but have a comfy, cottage-like feel, with large doors that open to balconies with magnificent views. The property is nicely kept and the new pool is wonderful---with water views and plenty of room to spread out. There is no beach but access to the water for very good snorkeling. A fine restaurant is on location and has great food but the service was slow. A short 5 minute walk to town makes this the perfect location on the island.
The hotel is excellent (location, views, rooms). The staff is not very friendly but anyway is the best place to stay in St John. The restaurant closes very early but you have cheaper options to eat in town at walking distance. They drive you free from and to the pier.
