How to Get There
Guanahani was a close rival but since the storm they're still renovating it (I believe.) The Christopher is beautifully located on a chill part of the Island. St Barths is obviously expensive regardless of where you're going so if you're prepared for that, the cost isn't going to be a surprise. The pool is located right near the gorgeous waterfront view and the rooms are all in a cabin setup so it feels boutique without feeling boutique. And the customer service is definitely better than you typical francophone situation.
The Christopher is one of our favorite hotels in the Caribbean. Having stayed here numerous times in the past, we were excited to return this year and find the hotel fabulously restored, even better than before. The location is superior, the staff is professional and friendly, the concierges are the best on the islan, and the pool may be the most beautiful in St. Barth. Can’t wait to return next year.
Beautifully located, though without a beach, the pool almost makes up for it and is elegantly designed. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly (even though it isn’t terribly child friendly in general).
Rooms are relatively simple yet comfortable (basic in some areas) and stylish. Best of all, I find they represent excellent value for St Bart’s. It is obviously an expensive island so this hotel is by no means cheap, but it provides style, comfort and location for less than most of the others. As always with my reviews, my rating is relative to the price paid and expectations laid out.
A few flaws - as mentioned hotel does not have a beach so you will have to drive to one - and while the restaurant is generally excellent quality it is also very expensive and you are stuck there so have to eat there if you don’t want to travel too far. They should offer a cheaper more casual offer for dinner (for lunch they do, by the pool)....otherwise your only option is a highfalutin French meal which one often does not feel like. Also, offer your guests complimentary bottled water...not doing this is simply stingy at such a resort. Tap water in St Bart’s doesn’t taste nice for drinking.
Strong points - all rooms have amazing views, even the base ones. Staff are beyond helpful and courteous, always with a smile on their face.
Breakfast is truly one of the best around, and enough to draw me back. That bread and cured salmon!
Will be back next time in St Bart (for the same price).
I was so, so impressed with the Christopher! I just spent six nights there, and it was absolutely flawless. The setting is lovely, with a beautiful view of the ocean and lush foliage. Our room was large and well laid out, with lots of closet space. The dinner we had at the restaurant was on a par with the very best restaurants on the island. And the service was incredibly warm and friendly across the board. This will definitely be my future home on St Barths!!
Stayed for 5 days at the end of January. The hotel is beautiful -not a bad view on the property. The staff ( especially the concierge & front desk) were incredibly kind, patient, & helpful. They have a small gym which is more than adequate and a spa that is beautiful and staffed with knowledgable and kind folks ( best massage room ever!) Renting a car is really easy (drop off and pick up in the the hotel parking lot) Not a great location if you need to walk to town, but this wasn't important to us. ( rented a car as well)
