How to Get There
Excellent time at Swain's Cay Lodge. This is my fourth year staying there and it just keeps on getting better. Cheryl, the owner, is wonderful. The lodging, food, location, and friendliness are fantastic.
Swain's Cay Lodge delivered a grand slam home run on my recent stay, which was my first fly fishing for bonefish experience. It's a package deal here, that included room, meals, and guided fishing. Here's the grand slam:
1. Spacious, air conditioned, clean rooms with lots of towels and comfortable beds;
2. Outstanding food, and I mean outstanding. Cooked to order breakfasts, packed lunches and superb dinners. In five nights the dinners were: ribs, lobster, cracked conch, chicken curry, and snapper. Every one delicious!;
3. Great location for bonefishing the Middle Bight, South Bight, and both east and west sides of the island;
4. Personal service and attention to detail. Cheryl Bastian, owner, is on site and supervises everything to make sure guests are comfortable and satisfied. You can tell the difference a woman's touch makes. All staff made us feel welcomed and appreciated.
I can't wait to go back!
Spent 4 nights and three days fishing the flats at Swains Cay. Wonderful experience! The staff were friendly and helpful the entire trip. Accommodations were clean and well maintained. Cheryl was a wonderful host. The staff's children stopped by on Halloween in costumes for Trick or Treats. Then on Friday night, Cheryl arranged for a band to play music before dinner. Pam's took care of dinner in the kitchen and each meal was great. We fished the sought bight for three days with Patterson. He put us on bonefish each day. Great fall trip and hope to visit again soon.
There are so many things I loved about Swain's Cay Lodge, where should I start...
To sum it up I truly felt we had the best of both worlds.... A beautiful island to ourselves where we walked the beach every morning to see the sunrise, had old school fun with the kids at our private beach, kayaked to our own island, amazing snorkeling and bone fishing with a private guide... Than we had Cheryl who made sure we had every little thing we needed..... we also had cocktails beach side, amazing food from a kind, talented chef, Pam, who aloud my daughter to help in the kitchen, and housekeeping...
So a private island feel, spoiled with all the amenities.... Our family will definitely be back!! One more important thing... my husband wanted a trip to unplug for the whole family and enjoy each other and Bahamas and its natural beauty, he nailed it! and for you moms reading this.... I felt so safe with my kids running around, 6 and 12 years old.
My third trip to Swain's Cay. A last minute fishing excursion. Cheryl and her staff are fantastic. Very nice rooms. Great food and drinks. The fishing is pretty good too. I got to fish with Marvin and Randy. Caught a bunch. Had a blast. Will be back next year.
