How to Get There
My family and I love visiting this hotel and resort. The villas are wonderful for families and are closely situated to a grocery store. You can stock your fridge and feed your family for great savings, Although we do enjoy the food pool side it can add up fast. There are also several very tasty restaurants nearby and even within walking distance. We visit as often as we can, the trouble is now finding availability. This place runs timeshares so it is frequently very full. One other thing is about the pool, very family oriented. Lots of activities and in the summer months extremely crowded. They do offer cabana rentals, probably not as necessary during the off season but for sure something to consider during the summer months.
We love the Westin Kierland- Beautiful property. Have a drink at sunset and listen to the bagpipes play. Live music Friday night in the lobby was great. Every night we took the shuttle to the Kierland Commons for dinner and they picked us up. Great restaurants and shopping just a block away and all you had to do was call for a ride if you did not feel like walking. We had massage appointments at the spa on Saturday- Stephen was amazing! Highly recommend this property!
tagged along for my spouse's conference. Hotel is huge, but very well-run and comfortable. The gym is a bit small but not overcrowded. The spa is fantastic! Just using the facilities was great- there is a jacuzzi in the locker room with a skylight, daily use was included since we are in the loyalty program. Had a very nice facial and very much appreciated not being upsold It was too cold for outdoor swimming but the pool areas seemed nice. I only had one meal at the hotel which was fine.
Beds/pillows linens all very nice. Golf is a big thing both at the hotel and Scottsdale - I don't play but the course was attractive. Bizarrely there is a bagpiper most evenings
I stayed 2 nights for a conference and had to move to a different hotel for another set of meetings... I am very tempted to get in an Uber and head back there! The room was very comfortable. I had a little issue with noise from the hallway and rooms next door, hearing showers and loud nose blowing from my neighbor, but otherwise it was a great stay. The staff was very friendly, property beautiful and very clean, conference food was well above average, and the outdoor spaces were lovely. I didn't get to enjoy any of the leisure activities but it seems like there is a lot to do for families. The Scotch library is very cool; wish it stayed open past 9. There is an upscale shopping center a short walk from the hotel with lots of restaurants. Bottom line, I did not choose this hotel but liked it a lot and would stay there again for a vacation.
My wife and I stayed here recently for a conference we attended that was held on-sight. This is a very nice, upscale property that is starting to show some age and wear. The conference area provides plenty of room, so if you are looking for a space that has multiple halls, with both large and small places, this would be an option.
First off, the curb appeal is amazing. This is a very upscale feel, and with the grounds green and lush, and the sheer size of he facility is amazing. That same size tho, can make for an interesting walk to your room, as my wife counted 8 turns from the time we exited the elevator until we reached our room. If you have difficulties walking long distances, just be sure that you request a closer room. During the walk down these long halls, we noticed that for a hotel of this caliber, there were a lot of damage to the walls and carpets, but the halls were plenty wide allowing for easy access with your luggage even when the cleaning carts are out.
The room was a good looking room, nicely appointed and with a very comfortable bed and linens. The way the hotel is laid out, most of the rooms will have some type of decent view, but the North side will give nice views over the golf course.
The bathroom had both the shower stall and a soaking tub, and provided a nice comfy bathrobe. I found it odd that our room had a plunger next to the toilet, and this led me to wonder if the bathroom was prone to issues, or if the hotel just expects you to take on the task yourself should a problem arise. I am please to report there were no issues, but still find it VERY odd and not luxurious to have a plunger sitting next to the toilet. Having said that, I did see at least two maintenance carts in the hallway, that each also had plungers, so, maybe there are some issues.
As for things to do, I know there are folks that use this resort for "staycasions", with the lazy river, two pools, an artificial surf wave, kids play area, golf, close to shopping and much more, most of the family can be provided with something to do.
I will say that the restaurants are VERY expensive, but with the many options close by in an open area mall, that may be non-issue. Parking is NOT included, and the modern/stupid "resort fee" to make prices look lower than they really are by about $45 per day is in effect here, so keep that in mind as you make your plans.
Overall, the stay was enjoyable, and the staff friendly.
