How to Get There
Stayed with tour group. Got room bedding wrong. Moved to back of hotel, which seems to be all over the place. Room 3315 had modern furnishings but building itself was dated. Room had fridge, safe and air con. Small bathroom Reception were helpful.Able to walk to Old Town.
The Saguaro was less than anticipated. Don’t confuse term like quaint for old. No hot water and sketchy ac. This property is a “ used to be”. It is an old tired property that used to be something else and something else... it is built like a Motel 6 that has been painted, painted, and painted again. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. The staff is friendly but in the end it’s just a tired old property. I was here for a conference and nearly moved to the Hilton Garden Inn across the street There’s lots of nice choices around here and I would pass on ever coming back.
We got a good rate on sale, booked 4 days out, better than the Travel Zoo offer of a month before, which had expired, plus we got a $20 per day credit on food and drink, which somewhat offset the bogus "resort fee". The staff was super nice, the restaurant food was good (they could use an upgrade on the outdoor dining venue, needs some sprucing up). The weather was nice enough that we could keep the slider open for sleeping, not a problem on Thursday night, but there were late night (early morning) party folks Friday. They have a "calm pool" which is nice because it offers an alternative to the main pool, which has non stop music on the loud side. Also it would be nice if they offered a way to log into your Netflix or Hulu account on their TV. Also there are a lot of restaurants within walking distance. At a "calm" pool view rate of $119 per night, plus resort fee, minus the food and beverage credit, I was happy.
