How to Get There
This visit was for a conference and the stay was excellent. The hotel is in the middle of the hustle of town, but the room was whisper quiet. I stay on the 8th floor at the SE corner. There is a convenient tunnel that you can take under the main road to get to an upscale strip mall across the street where you will find loads of restaurant options. I walked about a half mile to the closest grocery. I felt safe the entire time even at night due to it being well lit and large sidewalks. The hotel has a quirky art decor theme including a bicycle with mirror wheels in the lobby. The meeting rooms were fine and the WiFi was decent. I’d stay here again.
The Camry is a boutique hotel with many unique attributes, mainly related to the decor. It is a Southwestern motif generally, with prevalent hints of art and whimsy. This may appeal to you, or it may not. The rooms are well-appointed and clean. Not particularly spacious, the room size is adequate. I do have a complaint with the chairs in the room I stayed in (which I guess is the same for all the basic rooms) - two “occasional” chairs and the desk chair were so uncomfortable that I could not sit in them for much more than 3-4 minutes. I watched TV from the bed and used the chairs for anything but sitting in. Staff was very good, pleasant and helpful. My room overlooked the pool, which looked to be well maintained. Can’t comment on the price as this was a business trip.
Wonderful property, with even more awesome staff! I was returning from overseas service and wanted to surprise my wife. The staff at The Camby bent over backwards to help make the surprise an overwhelming success, and the atmosphere of the hotel, the comfort of the room, the spa, the restaurant, everything!!! Was absolutely perfect!!!! We will absolutely be back for staycations when I make it home for good.
I travel down here often for business events. I have always had a wonderful stay and found the hotel staff themselves friendly and accommodating and gracious. Food and drinks are great as well. Meeting services have been fantastic to work with.
What always puts a damper on my stay has been the rude and often incompetent valet staff. Keep in mind this comment is coming after *several* visits over the past year.
My latest visit involved us calling not once but twice to make sure our car was brought around. About 30 minutes had passed (we were waiting for the bellman who was late to help us) we went down expecting the car to be there, it was not. There were several valet guys standing around doing nothing. The seemingly head guy said ‘do you want your car brought around?’ Exasperated, I said we called twice half an hour ago — why it wasn’t here already? With no apology he said snarkily ‘well it’s here now’ as it finally arrived. I understand delays happen but an apology should always be in order for a customer.
I do want to shout out to Chris, who has been the one exception! when we do see him he is always wonderful, knows we are regulars, and takes good care of us.
I have a feeling the valet services are outsourced to some company whose people do not care about the customer experience. The valet’s job is not just to bring out and take cars. Their job is to leave a good lasting impression of the hotel and also a wonderful welcoming impression when you arrive. The Camby needs to make that clear and get rid of the people who do not understand that job. If they would simply fix this one area, this would truly be a near perfect hotel experience every time.
The staff is very nice and the rooms are well-appointed. The elevators are super slow. The restaurant has very good food but it’s a little expensive. The hotel is in a nice and within walking distance of a mall that has high end stores and restaurants. I would stay here again.
