How to Get There
The hotel is located across the street from the Convention Center, good service and good food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The room was spacious although kind of light on blankets, fortunately there was an extra blanket in the closet, otherwise I would had froze all night. One CANNOT shut off the A/C - the blower continues to blow regardless of the setting.
I was told my room would be ready for check in at 1130. I showed up and it was not ready. They let me know an hour or so later that my room was ready again and the room had been given away. Second time and still not ready! They had given me a $25 food and beverage credit. Came back the third time an hour or so after that and the room I had requested was STILL not ready despite them telling me it was. They comped me another $25 food and beverage credit. 30 minutes later it was finally ready some time around 5 that evening. I went to check out and they weren’t even aware of the food and beverage credits until I said something. I checked on the receipt and I was only credited $25 not the promised compensation of $50. Horrible communication. Do what you say you’re going to do.
The other Trip Advisor reviews for this hotel were spot on - it's not the fanciest of Hyatt's, but I had a comfortable stay. Ispent three nights in a double queen room. The view from the 14th floor was nice and quiet and the beds were comfortable. As others have noted, the bathrooms are pretty small. I was traveling alone, but if I had been sharing this room with others it would have felt cramped. Toiletries are limited, but they have a number of complimentary items available - like body wash, cotton balls, toothpaste, etc that they will deliver to your room whenever you want. The one thing my colleagues and I all noted is that the main duvet/comforter on the bed is really just a thin blanket between two sheets that didn't provide much weight or warmth. We were all very cold at night.
The hotel is right in downtown, an easy walk to a number of restaurants, sports arenas/theaters and a quick ride to the airport.
On a related note, I was attending a seminar at the Hyatt and I thought the catering and conference staff did an excellent job.
Good value, great location, short walk to many good restaurants, events. convienient parking options. V-well maintained common areas. Upper floors provide excellent viewing of the city. Attentive staff
The downtown location is optimum. The offsite parking is a bit of a pain and is $12 overnight. Valet is $33. This doesn't seem like good treatment for hotel guests to me. The elevators were slow and had to wait in a line for 2 or 3 elevators to cycle before getting on, at least a 10-15 minute wait.
