How to Get There
when we arrived at around 1:30 to check to see if we could check in at 3:00, they said I could check in then, it was great because of the long trip and that was when it started, from the check in, to the guy helping us with our luggage to having a drink at the bar, to eating in their many places and their work out fitness center, to enjoying a great time, everyone was great even the people cleaning the room and a maintenance people, what a great time we had, didn't win any money, also watching TV was great, but had a great time, see you again in about 6 months, thanks for everything, your establishment is awesome.
Spent a couple of nights away from home at this Hotel/Casino just to break away from the daily routine and it was enjoyable. Check-in was quick and easy. The room and restroom were clean. There was a desk to work on but the TV only picked up one channel. I called down to the front desk and they said that they would send someone up to look at it but since we did not intend to spend a lot of time watching TV, we said that it was alright and not to send someone up. The AC in the room was too cold for us so we actually turned on the heater to bring the temperature up to around 80 degrees. We enjoyed the view from the higher floor because it was of the open spaces of the desert with a few buildings in the distance but at night, being able to open the curtain and looking into the clear night sky was just so relaxing. (We stayed in a room facing south.) The hotel had food places open most of the day and night with Starbuck's open 24/7 which was greatly appreciated. I would stay there again for relaxation purposes. (I would love to have gotten down to the pool but it was just too darn hot!) Oh, pool cabanas are available to reserve at a cost of $100 but they are usually booked well in advance. Easy check-out.
We stayed at Wild Horse Pass for the first time on a Sunday & Monday night in mid-June. We primarily visit Caesar's (formerly Total Rewards) hotels & casinos and have stayed in many of their nicer/newer/remodeled locations throughout the country. We didn't know what to expect from a smaller casino group like Gila River and were very pleasantly surprised.
The hotel was extremely clean, well-decorated and easy to navigate. The check-in process was quick and the agent assisting us was helpful and friendly. My only recommendation would be to add some stanchions and ropes to make it clearer where to get in line and who is next for service. Our standard king room on the 10th floor was spacious and well-equipped with a lovely view of mountains in the distance. My only complaint (and it is admittedly petty) is that the shampoo and shower gel did not lather well, but fortunately i had backup supplies with me. The bed and bedding was extremely comfortable - among the best we've found in a casino hotel. There is a scenic, short walking trail between the hotel and Phoenix Premium Outlets. It took us only 5-6 mins to get there. There's not much else nearby in the area, but you don't really need anything. There's a ton to do on site and plenty of good food/restaurant choices.
We ordered room service both mornings and it was fabulous and very inexpensive compared to other places we've stayed. The order process was quick and easy and the food arrived within 15 mins both days. The menu is more limited than we're used to, but we both found plenty of things we liked. We visited Ling & Louie's (asian themed similar to PF Chang's) and Shula's (both on site) during our trip. The food at L&L wasn't bad, but nothing really wow'd me...except for their ginger margarita, which was phenomenal. I'll be thinking about that for a while to come. Shula's was really good, as expected, but also really expensive, as expected. Writing a separate review for them, so i'll stop there.
I loved, loved, loved the Wild Horse Pass casino! It's on par with some of the Vegas casinos, though a lot smaller than our 'home' casino in the NC mountains (Harrah's Cherokee). There were plenty of open seats at the tables and a good variety of fun slots at all different denominations - something for everyone! The payout ratio was above average in my opinion, but then i have realistic expectations in that regard. As others have mentioned, you do smell a lot of cigarette smoke, but i didn't find it to be as bad as a lot of other casinos i've visited, esp in the mid-size range. All of the machines i played were in good working order and the seating was comfortable. I was impressed by how clean everything was. Drinks are not free, but that's rare outside of Vegas, so didn't surprise me.
The hotel is great with lots of on site amenities and friendly helpful staff. The casino is tons of fun and well-maintained. I will most definitely stay be back the next time I am in Phoenix!
What a fantastic find just outside of Phoenix! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with Tone Loc, Coolio, Rob Base & Vanilla Ice at Wild Horse Pass a couple of weeks ago...it was amazing! Great, intimate venue to see any artist and the hotel was beautiful inside and out.
We held our own int he casino as well...the slots took us a t first but slowly gave it back so we were able to play for a long time and just enjoy hanging out.
We had a delicious steak dinner and Shula's complete with a bottle of wine for less than I had planned to pay so that was a bonus as well.
All in all - we will definitely be spending more time at Wild Horse Pass in the months and years to come. I also look forward to checking out their other property...since this stay was so amazing I can only assume Vee Quiva would be more of the same!
This hotel was absolutely refreshing and very comfortable and I enjoyed my stay! Rooms are very quiet and clean and the room service was excellent. I highly recommend this hotel if your looking for something extra ordinary.
