Nice Staycation

Secluded resort on the outskirt of town. Nice restaurant at the hotel with a great breakfast buffet. The staff was friendly and helpful. A shuttle to take you to back and forth to the casino, restaurants and night club. Games at the pool for kids, a fun slide and available chairs and shade, but the pools need some attention and TLC. Overall a fun weekend with the kids and friends.

Would be a 5, but lost a start for...

This is my 5th visit. I love coming here. Very peaceful and tranquil. We always book an Exec Suite, can’t go wrong. Pool area beautiful, especially at night. Favorite place to eat is Silvik Grill at the Whirlwind Golf Club on the property. Prices are reasonable and selection is plentiful. Our suite had a nice mini fridge. A few housekeeping hiccups, but nothing that would keep me from coming back.

Why they lost a star from me was the condescending treatment at Aji Spa. After flying in from the east coast I was looking forward to some spa time. I had researched before arriving and there was a summer special, 3 Massages with included lunch and drink for $300 (weekday). Husband and I visited the spa early morning July 9. The hostess was very snooty (tone, appraising looks, etc). She did not offer me the special when I inquired about specials. . I had to ask. At her grimace and tight lips, I felt embarrassed that I was asking for the “summer sale special”. Nonetheless, I proceeded to purchase. Then she told me I had to have 3 of the same kind (was hoping to try a few different ones). And, the special was only for “Swedish”. If I wanted Deep Tissue (which I did), that would be an additional $10/ea. This was not mentioned on their website. She had no answer for that, just gave me a “take it or leave it” attitude. I asked if there was enough availability to fit in 3 for the week I was there. She indicated plenty of availability. She was impatient and disdainful. My husband and I finally had enough, We left and did not purchase anything...all week. Certainly didn’t feel, welcome.made me feel like trailer trash. Too bad, I tip good. I had called a few days in a row to book a single massage after that. Sometimes they just didn’t pick up phone during business hours. When I finally did reach someone I asked to book the Pima Medical Massage. I heard a big sigh and was told they don’t do that one anymore. I told her it was still on website and in spa booklet in my hotel room. She told me to pick something else. I gave up. At that point I didn’t want to spend any time in there or any money.

Last BIG negative was the restaurant, Kosin. I like the convenience of eating on property. Kosin has changed their menu since my last visit. VERY overpriced, and low on selection. Ate there twice, food quality was good, but not worth the exorbitant price. Need to get some variety back on the menu. Staff was nice, but definitely would not recommend. Very inconvenient that I couldn’t eat much at the hotel. Kia was closed for the month. Hanyo at the pool had delicious food, but still pretty pricey. Recommend the Buffalo Cheese Crisp. Yum! Great chef. Lobby bar had nice employees, but I was charged over $7 for 2 small Coke’s.

There was a pool incident. There happened to be a medical conference going on for sick children - chronic immune issues. The kids were having a wonderful time playing on the water slide. Then it was shut off, closes at 5pm. It was a hot Friday night with several hours of daylight left. Hotel was asked to extend the hours for the kids. They were not inclined and made them march back down the steps from the top of slide. It took a few phone calls to the front desk and conversations with pool mgr, and they eventually relented and turned it back on for the kids. It was mentioned they needed an employee out there. Funny, I’d been there all week and had never seen an attendant up there except for Thursday July 12.

Overall recommend, just be prepared to eat somewhere else and skip the spa.
