Originally built as a private residence, this rustic resort on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast provides the utmost in jungle seclusion. From the almondwood casitas and cozy hammocks to the bamboo bar and candlelit dining space, the intimate retreat has a breezy, tropical vibe. Latitude 10 is surrounded by lush jungle in nearly all directions, but it also boasts spectacular Pacific Ocean views thanks to its location on the Nicoya Peninsula. And it’s just a 15-minute walk to a stretch of private beach.
Bed and Bath
The property’s five open-air casitas have a secluded, jungle feel. They’re constructed completely from Costa Rican almondwood, dressed in white linens and decorated with local art. All casitas come with such mod cons as minifridges and free WiFi, though the Master Suite is worth the splurge for the private deck and ocean views.
While the Latitude 10 is well suited to a romantic getaway, with its private pool, beach and tranquil spa, the resort also offers a wide range of outdoor activities that families will love, from surfing lessons and kayaking to horseback riding and canopy tours. After a day of adventure or relaxation, don’t miss out on an indulgent dinner in the clubhouse, where Latitude’s full-time chef serves local dishes like fresh tuna in mango and pineapple salsa from an open kitchen.
In the Area
The resort is just three miles from the 7,560-acre Cabo Blanco Absolute Nature Reserve, a local hot spot for watching wildlife. Don’t miss the famous Montezuma Waterfall Canopy Tour, during which you’ll zipline through the canopy and take in the views of the forest and waterfalls. Cool down with a Seascape Kayak Tour, when you’ll be sure to see sea turtles, monkeys and pelicans. Let someone else take the wheel with a cruise around Isla Tortuga, where you can sip tropical drinks while marveling at Costa Rica’s diverse marine life.
How to Get There
This was our last stop of holiday and boy did we make the right choice. Home away from home but 10x better. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, the food was mind blowing and the products in the bathroom smelt soooo good! We didn’t leave the resort in 3 days other than to hit the beach. Seriously recommend this place. Did not want to leave!
Having visited Latitude 10 several times 9-12 years ago, I was so impressed on this recent trip with both how little the property had changed, and how the level of staff professionalism and fine culinary prowess had only increased.
Our group of seven women thrilled to the glamping experience offered by Latitude 10's beautiful open-air casitas complete with sustainable accommodations and the sounds of rain frogs and Bare-throated tiger herons. The lounge/restaurant completely feels like home as guests get to know their attentive staff and try the always-perfect drinks and entrees. Staff truly makes guests feel like they own the place.
Clearly, Cayuga has made this an exemplary interpretive and sustainable property. Especially impressing me from the natural world focus was Douglas. He has an express passion for birding and other aspects of the ecosystem and does an excellent job communicating this to the visitor. Because of rains we could not do a long tour with him, but he arranged to come to work super early to give us a private walk around the property and pointed out many amazing aspects of the wildlife during a half an hour in-depth experience.
As much as I love others of Cayuga's amazing resorts, this place will remain my favorite because coming here is truly a homecoming. Latitude 10 is worth the trek and always exceeds my expectations for rustic luxury and connection to the outdoors via its amazing oceanfront that feels like an exclusive slice of heaven on earth to me.
I will never forget the sounds of the birds and wildlife as I woke up in our beautiful open air bungalow. I felt like part of nature living in the wild. The beach was beautiful, rocky, and walkable. The staff was friendly and attentive. Life stands still here! Go there...now!
Awesome staff, friendly and helpful. Exquisite location with views of powerful waves, rock formations and a walkable beach. Staff was knowledgeable about the fauna and flora. Meals were excellently prepared and accommodations stellar! Loved the focus on environmental sustainability ~ guests were encouraged to pick up trash found on beach & turn in (in the bags provided) for a free drink. Beginning of the rainy season was a plus. The magnificent skies filled with dark clouds, lightning and thunder augmented the incredible beachscape!
Imagine Paradise. Does it have an open air bungalow? Al fresco showering surrounded by tropical flowers and palm trees? The sound and sights of ocean waves as you wake? Fresh seafood, yoga, miles of beach stretching in either direction? Then Latitude 10 is where you need to go. The setting and the accommodations are exquisite; the amenities outstanding (now imagine coming back after dinner to a candlelit room); and the staff thoughtful and perceptive. Plus Latitude 10’s commitment to sustainability and community is outstanding.
