How to Get There
Well, we can say we traveled a bit by now and this hotel is in the top 3 of wherever we stayed before. The rooms are spacious and very well decorated/equiped. Everything is clean. The common areas very well designed and organized. The pools perfect. The beach perfect. Time slows when you are here. Breakfast can be improved (its a bit simplistic) but it serves its purpose. Note: we were ther off season, some thing may not be true if the hotel is filled.
My husband, 3 smalls kids and I stayed at Azul Ocean Club Hotel for 5 nights. We check in on June 16th.
I must said that when we arrived I was concerned, since the hotel is quite isolated and we did not have have a rental car to move around the town.
We arrived very hungry around 3:00 pm and the restaurant was closed for lunch, the manager was very kind and took us to a very close restaurant.
I was even considering to change to the Marriott in Guanacaste, but I’m so glad that we stayed at Azul Ocean Club.
Why I love it ?
-Space! Our kids had their own room with nice closets and own bathroom.
- The beach is gorgeous and so private! So Virgin, with great sunsets and safe for the kids to swim they had so much fun playing with the waves.
- The nature
If you decide to stay here come with a positive mind that this place is not the Marriott or any other hotel in USA , is not perfect , but really is so private and beautiful.
Reception helped us to rent a car and that made a big difference. We drove around the small town and also we went twice to Tamarindo which is about 45 minutes away. Yes Tamarindo has more restaurants, nightlife and shops ... but you don’t get that private beautiful beach.
We went to look the Marriott in Guanacaste and I’m glad that we stayed at Azul, because we experienced more the Costa Rica nature there love that our kids saw iguanas, cows, birds, crabs!
It would have been nice if we could get drinks from the bar in the afternoon but the restaurant closes at 2:00 pm and opens again 6:00 pm or so.
In overall I will miss this place! I will miss my mornings walks around the beach, the privacy and the sunsets.
Visited this wonderful place and I gladly recommend it to my friends and colleagues. The rooms are neat and comfy.
I'm not much of a talker, yet it was one of the best places i have stayed in Guanacaste Costa Rica. Visited in Sept 2015
• The room was nice, location by the beach with a great view, the food at breakfast and dinner was very nice (although pricey).
• The place looks very tired and not well maintained, the room bathroom could do with some painting, we had to wait pretty much every day for a while to get pool towels, huge waiting for food serving at lunchtime, people eating in the pool and no member of staff would say anything to them, breakfast was ok in terms of quality and quantity but the drinks were limited (you have to pay extra for anything other than tea, plain coffee or orange juice).
I left a great review last year of this place, how ever I did some day pool visits which they charge $20. The plave seems to have gone downhill. The drinks and food are not good. I returned things a few times. I am picky forsure but even my boyfriend didnt eat things and he will eat almost anything. My main complaint is the pool though as thats what we specifically come here for. It is dirty, there is lizard poop around and even in the pool. The pool has been cloudy and filled with pollen and leaves and sand. One time we cane and the pool smelled funny and was really low. They still charged us the $20 and let us in. I asked for our money back, which they did and said something was wrong with the pool. Its really to bad because I used to enjoy comming here.
