How to Get There
We just returned from the most incredible stay at Coco Beach to celebrate my husband's 40th Birthday. We arrived in San Pedro through Maya Air and we were immediately picked up at the airport by our golf cart rental company, C&S Rentals. The cart they gave us was in perfect condition - super clean and full of gas.
Our drive through San Pedro was a bit of culture shock but we were all smiles when we pulled into our resort. The sandy, rock-lined pathways, with beautiful tropical plants, lead us to reception where we were greeted warmly with a glass of rum punch. The property is exquisite! The pictures online do not do it justice. The plants have filled in more than what you see online so it feels like you are walking through a jungle paradise on a beach. There is powdery white sand for a path and all around the property are water features. When you lay out by the pool you can hear the sound of water running off of rocks and columns that are tucked into the landscaping. There are loungers in the pool bar area- perfect for reading and enjoying a few drinks!
We stayed in Casita 4 which we found to be well appointed. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, pans, glassware, and oven/microwave. Honestly, it looked as though the kitchen had never been used! There were hibiscus blossoms tucked into the towels, scattered on the bed, and in hand towels in the kitchen. It felt very special when we walked in.
For meals, we went to the cafe for breakfast each day and the pool bar for lunches. We did adventure out to Secret Beach for an afternoon and to Rain for dinner (incredible!) but most of all we just wanted to stay at our perfect resort. We both had massages by the ocean (Hodtje - was a great therapist!) and would recommend them for you too!
We did venture out for several excursions - 3 dives, 1 snorkel, and a 1/2 day of reef fishing. My only complaint about the whole trip would have been the tour/excursion company - Tuff Enough Tours. When we arrived on Sunday we immediately wanted to set up our dives so that we would be able to fit in as many as possible. To make a long story short, we were given one firm dive time on Tuesday and one tentative 8:30 AM dive time on Monday that would be canceled by 8AM the next morning IF it wasn't a go. Our instructions were to head to the pier if we hadn't heard from them by 8AM. We were called at 8:20 to say the dive time had been moved to 12:00 which was inconvenient since we'd already prepared to go. Then we received a call on Tuesday at 8:10 saying that they needed to move our already confirmed dive to the afternoon because they'd overbooked the morning trip. (not our problem, we've been booked since Sunday!) They pushed hard to try and get us to change but we had other things booked for the afternoon and at the end, they "worked their magic???" to get us on the dive we'd already paid for. Thanks for doing your job, I guess???
Since weren't having a great experience with Tuff Enough, we stopped by next door at Captain Morgan's tour guides. We scheduled a 1/2 fishing trip with them in less than 5 minutes for $265. The quote we'd gotten from Tuff Enough was $375.
All in all, I highly recommend Coco Beach but I'd book your excursions elsewhere. We enjoyed our stay in Belize and we will be coming back soon!
5 of us stayed here for a week. I found it very comparable to some of the larger South American resorts I have visited, but not as large. It never seemed crowded. You could always find a spot at the pool. Staff was extremely friendly and grounds were immaculate. The rooms are very nice. We had a two room suite.
I wouldn’t normally spend that much on a hotel, but we stayed at a very cheap place in San Ignacio our first 4 nights so it evened out. Definitely worth it. It was luxurious! Probably the best pool on the island! Great sunrise view! Can’t really swim at the beach, but we knew that before we got there. The pool makes up for it. If you use the kayaks they provide there’s a nice spot out in the middle of the ocean to do some snorkeling. The resort is located 3 miles from San Pedro, so it’s a very quiet area. They have golf carts, mopeds, or bicycles you can rent to go into town or to the secret beach. There’s restaurants on the way into town or they have food at the resort if you just want to stay there and relax. They also have paddle boards you can use and excursions they can set up for you. Very helpful staff and room service was excellent!
This was my first time in Belize. The resort was very nice. We walked out of our room and we were straight on the beach. The hotel staff was very helpful. There were complimentary towels, hammocks and a swim up bar. We rented a golf cart for our stay so we could drive into town for dinner. I would return to this resort or recommend to any first timers.
My husband and I went to Coco Beach Resort to celebrate our Thirty Year Wedding Anniversary. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Gabrielle even brought to our room a card and a bottle of wine on our special day. We met some great people and plan on coming back every anniversary. This place is paradise.
