Romance-seekers and nature lovers will relish a stay at Mahogany Hall, which is noted for its intimate size and quiet, away-from-it-all vibe. Rooms and suites are individually decorated with artworks celebrating local wildlife, while many rooms offer lush mountain views. There are luxurious touches, like Jacuzzi tubs and in-room massages on offer, while meals at Rico’s restaurant feature local, organic produce.
In the Area
Mahogany Hall is situated on the lovely Mopan River, near the hamlet of Bullet Tree Falls. It’s well located for a day trip to the ancient Mayan site of Tikal, Caracol, Xunantunich, or to Cahal Pech, another significant Mayan site as well as the famous Actun Tunichil Muknal. The hotel can suggest hiking routes or arrange regional flights within Belize. But the main allure of Mahogany Hall is its quiet tempo, and many guests prefer to while away the day by the pool, in a hammock or Adirondack chair by the river, or playing a low key game of beach volleyball on the lawn.
How to Get There
The only thing to say is this is the place to book!! The staff is attentive, courteous, and so friendly! The property is beautiful, lush greenery, well maintained, and all the amenities you could ask for. There’s a restaurant where you can place you orders for meals, so you don’t have to worry about meal after a long excursion. All meals were tasty! The location is great, away from the hustle and bustle of San Ignacio but close enough that you easily come back and forth with a taxi. The best part is after a long excursion, you come back to enjoy the pool or the Mopan River in the backyard! With drinks from the bar! There are lawn chairs by the river and hammocks and lounge chairs near the pool. We had the suite with the jacuzzi tub, and it had a grand window that you open up while recovering from a busy day of excursions.
This small resort is a great place to unplug and plan adventures in rural Belize. The service was both friendly and excellent, and the little touches in the room and at meals (flower petals on bed and table, napkin art, etc.) made the stay special. The food was very good, and the owner (on site) very open and kind. It was fun to play in the river and soak in the small pool. This is a great spot for planning tours to ruins, cave tubing, horseback riding, and a lot more. Super fun!
Such a beautiful place on the river. Very charming with an old feel. Rooms are beautiful. The food was amazing. We were greeted with a welcome drink and felt right at home. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We even had a monkey in the tree above the deck on our visit!
While Mahogany Hall is located about ten minutes outside of San Ignacio (approx $5-10 USD cab ride), we loved the location overlooking the river. We really enjoyed that the hotel provided inner tubes to float down the river too! The food and beverages were great, and although the bar was closed by 8pm, they did offer to stay open later for our group if we wished. The staff were very friendly, and went above and beyond! Would recommend Mahogany Hall.
6 of us had an amazing stay here. The staff was very accommodating and the whole place was beautiful. The food and drinks were great, especially the one that we got upon arrival.
We would usually head into town or do an excursion during the day and then we would can it off with a slow float down the the river that flows past the hotel. The tubes were provided.
The only issue is it being about a 10 minute drive to town. We typically would cab in and out for dinner every day, which got a bit expensive. However it was worth it for the hotel and serene location.
