Romantic, colonial-style stay with a chic pool and organic restaurant on the banks of the Mopan River

The Lowdown

Romance-seekers and nature lovers will relish a stay at Mahogany Hall, which is noted for its intimate size and quiet, away-from-it-all vibe. Rooms and suites are individually decorated with artworks celebrating local wildlife, while many rooms offer lush mountain views. There are luxurious touches, like Jacuzzi tubs and in-room massages on offer, while meals at Rico’s restaurant feature local, organic produce.

In the Area

Mahogany Hall is situated on the lovely Mopan River, near the hamlet of Bullet Tree Falls. It’s well located for a day trip to the ancient Mayan site of Tikal, Caracol, Xunantunich, or to Cahal Pech, another significant Mayan site as well as the famous Actun Tunichil Muknal. The hotel can suggest hiking routes or arrange regional flights within Belize. But the main allure of Mahogany Hall is its quiet tempo, and many guests prefer to while away the day by the pool, in a hammock or Adirondack chair by the river, or playing a low key game of beach volleyball on the lawn.

Isolated and Relaxing
Reviewed 3 months ago

We stayed at the Mahogany for three nights. It's close to San Ignacio but out of the way enough to make you feel isolated in paradise. The turquoise waters of the Mopan flow right behind the hotel so you can hear it at night-very relaxing! The hotel itself is gorgeous and very clean.

The staff is incredible and very attentive. They remembered our names and went out of their way to make us comfortable. We were also greeted with an alcoholic beverage upon arrival!

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is where you should stay.

I highly recommend Mahogany Hall. It is a little way outside of San Ignacio (5-10 minutes), and so you need a taxi/car to go into the city; however, it is a little-isolated paradise along the river. The staff is so welcoming and helpful. The food is excellent. And we had no trouble with our many different tour companies picking us up from the Resort. I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you to Mahogany Hall!

Remarkable service, beautiful location

We booked our stay here to have good proximity to the ruin sites, and did not anticipate the degree of service and amenities. On arrival, greeted with a cold towel and delicious drink, breakfast made to order and served by the river, and three course dinner with delicious local cuisine. The staff was wonderfully attentive, particularly Jose and Ian, and rooms were exactly as pictured on the website. After our daily tours, we tubed in the river directly behind the hotel and swam in the small but pristine private pool. Overall it was much more than expected and very accommodating to our need for an early start, late arrival and other requests. A delightful find!
